@MaddieMierMD I’ve been told several times to “dampen my personality” as my male med student counterparts are celebrated for their “confidence/assertiveness”. My personality is my confidence and if you can’t see warmth/positivity as a plus then you’re gonna miss me at my best self.

I heard about a trainee who was told she was “too bubbly to be taken seriously as a woman in medicine” BY A MORE SENIOR WOMAN IN MEDICINE.
Y’all. How can we EVER hope to close the gender gap if women don’t even build each other up?! It’s the bare minimum.

My dad came to the USA at 21 w/ only enough $ for 1y of his PhD. Now he’s breaking into CA academia as the new dean of @csufbusiness! He inspires me to dream big and never be held back by where I came from - in his words, “talent always rises.” Congrats @SundaramProf!
