@davidyelland Crikey I’m a spurs fan and agree with so much of your post. But for this to come from a city fan is the definition of irony. They are classless - North London forever when they never were etc etc. most people just disregard any city trophy because we know why they were won #115

Arsenal don’t seem to understand why they are hated by every other club. Is it the cheating? Is it the inexplicable decisions by Premier League referees? Partly. And they deny both. But mainly it is the lack of class, the sense of entitlement… I have never known a team so despised…. when you are Champions you have to stay humble and they have not.

@henrywinter I’m not sure there’s any debate about TAA - that ship sailed long ago with Tuchel. Would have been genuinely more surprised if he was named

Inevitable and understandable debate about the omissions (especially Maguire, Palmer, Alexander-Arnold) but this is still a good squad. England World Cup 26... Goalkeepers: Pickford, D Henderson, Trafford. Defenders: Burn, Guehi, James, Konsa, Livramento, O’Reilly, Quansah, Spence, Stones. Midfielders: Anderson, Bellingham, Eze, J Henderson, Mainoo, Rice, Rogers. Attackers: Gordon, Kane, Madueke, Rashford, Saka, Toney, Watkins.

@henrywinter If we are going to dock them four points for cheating can we dock teams the same when they cheat to win a penalty by diving and win the game.Honesty matters

Southampton kicked out of Championship play-off final for spying. Correct decision, especially as it transpires they spied on three clubs in total. This is about more than a bloke standing behind a tree with an iPhone. It’s about how seriously the game should take cheating. EFL independent disciplinary commission have struck a blow for fair play, for integrity, for the need for respect between clubs, for coaches to have an expectation of privacy in training. 25% of goals scored in the Championship this season were from set-pieces. Clubs practised them. Understandably, coaches don’t want their plans revealed. EFL sending a strong message with this punishment.  Spygate 2 different from Spygate 1. Rules tightened and punishments introduced since Leeds United’s offence. Appeals, of course. It’s tough for Southampton fans to be denied the trip to Wembley and the chance of a return to the Premier League. It’s particularly tough that many have forked out for tickets, travel and accommodation. Their frustration and anger should be directed at their club. Southampton should recompense fans. It’s not the fans’ fault.  The stupidity in all this is that Southampton would probably have beaten Boro anyway. Better team, stronger bench. But this is so damning… “Southampton admitted breaches of Regulations requiring Clubs to act with the utmost good faith and prohibiting the observation of another Club’s training session within 72 hours of a scheduled match,” says EFL. “The admitted breaches concern fixtures against Oxford United in December 2025, Ipswich Town in April 2026 and Middlesbrough in May 2026.” So the punishment is proportionate. It should act as a deterrent. Honesty matters.

@henrywinter We’ve gone beyond the point where it would add anything to the experience - it’s been horrific. Subjective decisions being re refereed time and time again. The ref sticking with his original decision was barking mad after review. I feel less angry about the original call though

The latest refereeing controversy is simply another reason why the audio has to be played live in stadium and on broadcasts. It works in other sports. Fans, viewers, listeners deserve to know what’s happening in and to THEIR game. The game doesn’t belong to PGMO/IFAB.

@henrywinter So we finally have VAR getting the decision right only for the ref to say - Hold my beer. Incredible decision

How on earth is that accidental!! It’s handball by Mbeumo. VAR was trying to bring some justice to the initial decision, invites ref to think again, to check the monitor. Ref sticks with his earlier aberration. Bizarre. Nottingham Forest rightly furious. #MUNNFO

@Josh_Self_ But a majority of 5k is well within reforms grasp. They will throw EVERYTHING at it. And I’d predict a win - damaging brand burnham and more importantly the Labour Party. It’s a terrible high risk strategy which is all about egos and not about running the country

If Burnham does stand, he is the change candidate + “get Starmer out” candidate + the stop Reform candidate Too early to make predications - and the local elections were dire for Labour in the area - but that is a powerful combination. And does not account for brand Burnham 1/.

If this was Keir Starmer or a Labour figure being handed £5 million by a billionaire donor, the same people pretending not to care now would be screaming about corruption, elite influence and “buying politics” 24/7. You can support Farage if you want, but at least apply the same standards across the board. The bigger problem in Britain today is too many people have abandoned basic political consistency and conviction. Everything is tribal now. If “your side” does it, it gets excused. If the other side does it, it’s suddenly the end of democracy. That double standard is poisoning British politics far more than any individual donation.

@montie @TiceRichard @bbclaurak Did you want to move on after Boris, Starmer and his suits and his wife’s dresses, Angela rayners stamp duty. No. So until the questions are answered properly they need reiterating again and again

That was a waste of an interview of @TiceRichard by @bbclaurak. Questions that were asked before the election and being repeated now about eg the donation to Nigel didn't concern voters who gave us nearly 1,500 gains. The BBC needs to move on.

The music library on @wearetrackradio was a group effort guided by hugely experienced radio veterans, but if you're wondering why Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys is playing right now it's because I demanded it and screamed until I got my way.

Most tense and enjoyable 0-0 I think I've seen. Salford should have won promotion but missed a stack of chances as Crawley hang on to secure League Two status and there is now a huge pitch invasion, players being chaired off - Great stuff

@peterbellamy @crawleytown Average time a EFL manager gets is approx 14 months - good or bad. Good they move up - bad they get the sack. Any league 2 club giving longer contracts than that wants its head tested as they’ll end up paying managers compensation and reduce the budget again
