I've been driving cars, RV's and motorbikes in China for 16 years. Much of Eric's report is pure BS, but addressing specifically the ticketing... You'll pretty much always get sufficient warning via SMS to move before actually being ticketed. Unless you were parked like a real asshole, on a pedestrian walkway or other high priority area for example, in which case I've heard may sometimes result in an immediate ticket (although I've never personally heard of that actually happening to anyone either). So either Eric's driver ignored the warning, or parked like an asshole, in which case is probably why he didn't share an image of where they actually got the ticket.
