There is something I need to say more often on here: Christ is coming and coming soon! He is instructing His prophets to help us prepare for that great day when He shall come to reign in peace.

@azuritian @Mormonger God's omniscience and man's free will are not in conflict. This is relatively basic theology. Just because God knows what some will choose, does not change the fact that an individual can freely choose to reject him and go to hell.

@ModeratelyR @Mormonger You don’t think it’s worth refuting the fact that God creating everything out of nothing with a perfect knowledge of how things will be from beginning to end necessarily means God created people specifically for them to suffer in hell for all eternity?

You would have to make a coherent point that hasn't been refuted by centuries of theology for me to even bother refuting it. "If God real, why bad thing happen?" Is not some silver bullet argument. We've been dealing with this for longer than your fake golden plates have allegedly existed.

@polysophical To make their analogy work, we really do need to be expanded universe content, because it actually happens in the same timeline but was taken out by someone who bought the rights and completely destroyed the franchise.

Anyhow, I am done arguing with people about Mormonism. I have learned a lot. Some of the things I have learned are very unfortunate and disheartening —particularly about my fellow creedal Christians. For my new LDS followers, thank you very much for the follow and for being so polite. I intend to broadcast my reading of a bit more of the Book of Mormon probably tomorrow. I'll probably just finish it on my own after that. I just pray that God softens our hearts.

I can’t say it any better than the late and much respected Voddie Baucham: “I choose to believe the Bible because it is a reliable collection of historical documents written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They report supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies and they claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.”

When I talked with some very sweet LDS missionary gals last spring this same process came up when I asked them about their testimonies. The problem is that you’re asked to believe based on a subjective feeling after praying, not to test it against Scripture to see if it’s objectively true. The problem with something like the Book of Mormon is that’s it’s used to interpret Scripture, so when there are contradictions they default to believing what the Book of Mormon says *over* what Scripture teaches. My urgent-but-gentle challenge to these girls was that when the Bible and the Book of Mormon contradict each other both cannot be true (I pointed out a specific example of where the teachings differ). And I encouraged them to really read and consider what Scripture says. I read this passage to them: “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9 I told them that my greatest desire for all of us is that we would believe what is true, and reminded them that God wanted that for all of us.

Read the Book of Mormon. Cover to cover. Pray about it, asking sincerely to know whether it’s true (the final chapter provides specific guidance on this point). Then tell me whether Latter-day Saints believe in Jesus Christ. Will you accept that challenge?

Mormonism is unique in that it's a recent enough creation to actually be falsifiable. It's baffling to me that anyone who's well read in its claims, literature, and history genuinely believes the church to be true.

To all those who suppose that us Mormons are being deceived by demons, I would like to propose an experiment. We will have 2 separate societies, one will be overwhelmingly whatever you consider to be Christian, and the other will be overwhelmingly Mormon. The separation will be upheld for a few decades, and at the end of the experiment we will see which society best upholds the morals found in the Bible. For those paying attention, something close to this has been ongoing for over 170 years, and it's not looking good for the creedalists...

We don’t believe in the trinity BECAUSE we study the scripture so much. The trinity is not in the bible. Sorry.
Berlin@shamz_mcgee

@EricCMeadows And after all of that, you still don't accept the Trinity. Raw study time means nothing without proper comprehension.

Whatever you think of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, if you are getting your information from The Godmakers then you are showing you have done little to no research on the topic.

Mormonism teaches: -Jesus was a created being like us -We too can become gods -Good Mormon men get a planet full of virgins -Jesus and Lucifer are brothers -Jesus came back to America -Native Americans are the true Israelites Mormons aren’t Christians.

All this Mormons v "Christians" stuff has me cracking up. You're saying the devil has inspired a whole "cult" of people to live decent, kind, generous, Christ like lives, they even worship Christ, but the grand deception is in the fine print? Lol.

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.” 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 NASB1995 bible.com/bible/100/1co.…

@extradeadjcb @BasedMikeLee Now that we have your petty minority squabbles out of the way, will the senate do something that actually matters for all Americans? or is that the extent of Lee's ability to hold the line?

Joseph Smith didn't create a better religion than God. He rejected the Gospel revealed in Scripture and invented his own. This is what happens when men reject the sufficiency of God's Word — they think they know better than the Lord. Galatians 1:8 "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed." There is no "better" gospel. Christ alone saves.

I really hope Mormonism is true - because if not - Joseph Smith created a better religion than God

I am a member of the Church of Mormon. I believe in the Trinity, reject Joseph Smith as a prophet, and oppose the notion that Jesus and Satan are brothers. But since my church has Mormon in the name, I am a Mormon, and I demand that the world recognize me as such.
