A Belagavi-Dharwad-Hubballi Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor is needed to offer an efficient transport and boost the economy of the region. One of the most important outcomes of delimitation would have been correcting India’s deeply flawed urban representation. Since 1971, India has transformed. We have urbanised rapidly. Our cities now drive jobs, growth, innovation and aspirations. But our Parliament and State Assemblies still do not adequately reflect urban India. This is why our cities lack the political capital needed to improve quality of life, public transport, housing, infrastructure and livability. By stalling delimitation, the Opposition has not only done a disservice to women and to the interests of southern India. It has also done a grave disservice to millions of Indians living in our cities. Weak urban representation means weaker cities. Weaker cities mean poorer livability, slower growth and lost opportunities for India.

21,000 bus users on weekdays and 28,000 on weekends! Glad @myBESTBus declined the proposal to shift the bus stops

@srinualavilli @BMTC_BENGALURU 1. More AC buses should be introduced to protect passengers frm dust and petrol pollution and to improve travel safety and comfort. 2. BMTC should acquire land at major jun like Marathahalli Bridge etc to build safe and modern bus stns similar to metro stns.

Hope all our city MLAs take the bus and experience our bus stops, the waiting and the crowding especially during peak hours. We need more buses, better bus stops and buses to peripheral areas & inner city. 48 lakh trips per day in Bengaluru are done by @BMTC_BENGALURU that means ~24 lakh people are using the bus. Highest in the country for city bus users. They are also voters.

I note that some have commented upon a "missing link" in my story, asking for evidence of a Muslim majority constituency electing a Hindu candidate. This has also just happened in Trikaripur, where Sandeep Varier won for the UDF. A fourth example to reinforce my #KeralaStory!

Staying with a Tamilian for 2–3 months, I learned a lot about Tamil Nadu politics. In TN, even if people don’t like DMK, they still don’t support BJP. It’s not that they hate BJP, it’s more that they don’t really see it as an option. It’s not even indifference; it feels more like a lack of recognition of BJP in TN. Of course, things might change, but this is what I observed for now. No offense to BJP supporters in TN and I could absolutely be wrong in my analysis

Parliament is discussing a historic legislation that paves the way for women’s reservation in legislative bodies. The discussions, which began yesterday, lasted till around 1 AM and have continued since the House proceedings began this morning. The Government has addressed all apprehensions and misconceptions relating to the legislation with facts and logic. All concerns have been addressed and any gaps in information have also been filled. For nearly four decades, this issue of women’s reservation in legislative bodies has been inordinately delayed. Now is the time to ensure that half of the nation’s population receives its rightful due in decision making. Even after so many decades of Independence, it is not right that women in India have such limited representation in this area. In a short while from now, voting will take place in the Lok Sabha. I urge and appeal to all political parties to reflect carefully and take a sensitive decision by voting in favour of women’s reservation. On behalf of our Nari Shakti, I also request all members not to do anything that may hurt the sentiments of women across India. Crores of women are watching us…our intent and our decisions. I once again request that everyone support the amendments to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.

Inspected various works under signal-free Old Airport Road project undertaken by BBMP, today. Reviewed underpass works at Wind Tunnel junction, Suranjandas Junction and Kundalahalli Junction on the occasion.

@BharataNadu Not 100% true .. Muslim womens in Villages of North Karnataka can't speak urdu fluently compared to Kannada...

It was very easy to convert Tamilians, Malayalees, Bangalees, North Indians, Konkanis & NE people. Hence mother tongue of those converted population is same as prominent language of their respective states. Kannada, Telugu and Marathi tribes were historically very strong and hardly undergone religion conversion. Very very less. They faced maximum atrocities, genocides and attacks of North Indian Converted Migrant Armies in the history, sacrificed life due to brutal torture but avoided Conversion. That's the reason we notice mother tongue of people of Non-Indian Religions in KA,MH,AP,TS are not Kannada, Telugu or Marathi. But In recent past, Telugus are being converted a lot. Hope they realise and comeback. PS: it's a opinion about "Mother Tongue" Vs Religion, not about knowing, learnt or expertise of any language. Even after 100 yrs of migration, mother tongue may remain same for majority of people. #Ashte 💛❤️
