There is nothing stronger than a mother’s love. Happy Mother’s Day to the wonderful moms still with us and to those we have only in our hearts. Not a day goes by that I don’t thank God for giving me my mom. I owe her everything.

No better way to start May in Indiana than running the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon yesterday. Then headed to Anderson to join the American Federation of Teachers conference. Our campaign has raised $2.4 million since launching. I’m incredibly grateful to have received support from Democrats, Independents, and Republicans alike who are ready for a change in the Secretary of State’s office. Over 85% of our contributions are from Hoosiers and we have received contributions from Hoosiers in all 92 counties. We are building a campaign with a broad base of support and raising the resources needed to win in November.

Heartbroken by the loss of Officer Brian Elliott, who gave his life protecting his community. He and his brothers and sisters in law enforcement run toward danger so others can be safe. We should strive to be worthy of his sacrifice everyday. Praying for his family and the officers who served beside him at this difficult time.

I’m honored to receive the endorsement of so many of our friends in organized labor. I will always stand with the working people of our state for better wages, stronger benefits and safer working conditions.

Lee Hamilton was a true public servant. He spent his career working across the aisle to make our state, our country, and our world a better place. His leadership is something to aspire to, and he will be missed.

Like many Hoosiers, I spent yesterday learning about and digesting the shooting that took place in Minneapolis which tragically took the life of Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse for the VA. Surely we can all agree that no American should lose his or her life simply for exercising their constitutional rights. Participation in a demonstration and lawful firearm possession are no justification for the use of deadly force.   This senseless tragedy makes clear the need for accountability and bipartisan oversight of our federal government’s immigration enforcement actions in U.S. cities. We must come together as Americans and stamp out the forces of violence, division, and hatred where we find them. I am praying for Alex’s family and loved ones at this tragic moment. May God be with them.
