One truth often downplayed in Western history books: The Soviet Union, led by workers and peasants, destroyed around 80% of Nazi Germany’s military forces and lost more human lives in the fight against fascism than all the other Allies combined. May 9 is their day. Their victory. Their blood. Honour it. May 9, 1945 was Victory Day in the USSR, when the Soviet Union officially accepted Nazi Germany’s surrender after years of devastating war. #VictoryDay #May9 #USSR #RedArmy #WWII #NeverForget #FascismDefeated #HonourTheFallen

One of the most glorious photos in history. The flag over Berlin that marked the end of Nazi Germany. Fascism conquered half of Europe, but it couldn’t survive the Red Army. Don’t let the far right or Hollywood rewrite history. It was the workers and peasants of the Soviet Union and the Red Army who broke the back of Nazi Germany. The Soviet Union lost around 28 million people, about 13% of its population, and the Red Army was responsible for around 70% of German military losses in the war. The road to Berlin ran through the Eastern Front.

This is a profound act of resistance - and a victory for the human spirit in the face of some of history's darkest forces @OmarHamadD is a hero He's also written a beautiful, wrenching book about living through the genocide. Any publisher who sees this, you should snap it up...

April 9th marks the birthdays of two revolutionary figures in Palestinian history: Ghassan Kanafani (1936–1972) and Leila Khaled (b. 1944). One used the pen, the other took up arms, both shaped the story of Palestinian resistance.

This is the ONLY way that colonial violence will ever end. Yet nearly all of the time, energy, and resources of the US "left" are spent on denying this reality, on pretending there can be real progress in this land without real conflict.

Maybe if the scenes we see in Iran, in Gaza, in Lebanon and Iraq were brought to the shores of America where its cities always remain untouched, yanks would stop being so goddamn bloodthirsty. When war stops being something that just happens "over there"

in 1995 Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola helped restore and re-released "I Am Cuba" by brilliant Soviet filmmaker Mikhail Kalatozov. Castro and Che Guevara also advised on the film. Scorsese considers it a masterpiece of cinema, and this famous continuous shot shows why:
