Good to speak this morning with President Trump to personally congratulate him on his election victory. We talked about the importance of the Alliance, and the strength of the Australia-US relationship in security, AUKUS, trade and investment. I look forward to working together in the interests of both our countries.

I don't see how surrogacy is any different than adoption. The right advocates for women to keep their baby and give it up to another family. How is it different?

@chadfelixg I’m donor-conceived, and I feel commodified — my bio father knew the gametes he sold would become his children. He sold for $35.00 and my raising parents bought for $500. I didn’t consent to be created as a subclass of people without access to genetic family.

I understand lots of people hold very strong opinions on surrogacy. But let's at least discuss the issue honestly and factually. 1 - Babies are not sold. Typically, the biological father is granted full custody of his child. Women can also go through this legal process. 2 - Women are not being treated like cattle or slaves or breeding machines, etc. Women donate their eggs, like men donate their sperm, and are compensated. Sometimes the same woman, but usually another woman chooses to carry the fertilized egg to term and is compensated. 3 - Men are not 'renting' a woman's womb. This is similar to the argument that a fetus is a parasite or occupying the woman's body without her consent. A woman is a whole person, and she is fully capable of deciding if she wants to undergo a pregnancy and under what circumstances. 4 - The child is not taken from its parents to be given to strangers. Again, the father, in most cases, simply assumes legal guardianship of his own child. That child is raised in his family. A few narrative comments. 1 - 'A baby is being torn from its mother.' 'Denied a mother.' 'Planned motherless.' The mother, who in this case involves the woman who donated her egg who may never interact with the process at all, the woman who carries the child and the woman or women who raise the child. Every adult in this process chooses their role. Whatever your beliefs on the importance of the birth mother's interaction with the infant it is necessary to recognize that the women in the situation agree to participate. 2 - 'This is creating a tragedy.' 'This is harming the child.' Again, these are ideological concerns. It's fine to debate them, but it is not a factual or objective statement. All that has occurred is, in most cases, a man has chosen to become a father and two women have chosen to assist others in having children. A heterosexual couple may choose surrogacy if the wife is unable to carry a child just as they may choose a sperm donor if the husband is unable to father the child. The father's wife is no less the child's mother than the woman who donated half of its DNA or the woman who carried it to term. A lesbian couple typically utilize a sperm donor but may also request a surrogate. In that case the child has potentially four mothers. 3 - Comparing consensual surrogacy and egg donation to forced or coerced pregnancies in other countries. The key concept is consent. If a person is unwilling they are not consenting and it's not the same conversation. 4 - Exploitation of poor women. Being poor does not devalue a person's choices or make them less capable of making them. The ideal of a baby being born to its biological parents and raised by both is just that, an ideal. It does not, however, automatically devalue the life of a child, the love of the parents or the moral character of the adults involved in bringing it into the world, planned, prepared and wanted.

@Prolife_Sam So if you did have a dad but he wasn't your biological father and they didn't tell you that, would you still grow up with trauma or this desire to know the truth? Also can you stop asking to ban everyone good lord everything has to be banned today

This man donated his sperm for the last three years, each donation can be used to create up to 5 children. They claim to cap it at 25 children total (which is already insane) but he’s been over 200+ times & they haven’t stopped him. “When they turn 18, they can reach out to me, if they want.” He was asked why he was doing this & simply said “money.” The trauma these children will face by not knowing their father until they are possibly 18 & most likely never is worth some measly cash to him. He doesn’t have to think about them. He doesn’t have to care for them, support them, love them, nothing. Yet he profits off of their existence. Our government shouldn’t allow this. Ban sperm donation. Ban egg donation. Ban IVF. Let’s stop creating children just to purposefully separate them from their parents.

@Prolife_Sam The children are with the parents who wanted them & they can meet the sperm donor & their many siblings later, if they choose to. Who says they are traumatized by it? Who says they aren't wanted & loved? This is a problem but not for the reason you're making it out to be.

Has any else ever heard of the sibling pods of donor conceived children? @LauraHigh5 has been doing a lot of work on this, and posts updates on tt. Here is one of her videos from tt, if you have that app, I suggest going over there and checking out her donor conception playlist.

I made a joke that as a disabled donor conceived person, I’m a “failed product of eugenics” and honestly I kinda stand by that. The combo of being DC & disabled is fucky, especially now as an adult seeing how banks advertise & RP’s talk.
