A lot of aspirants decided to quit after this year’s prelims, especially those on their 4th or 5th attempt & honestly that decision deserves respect, not mockery.
Yes, UPSC can be brutally unpredictable and unfair at times. But having the clarity to walk away after years of effort is still a form of courage. It’s far better than staying trapped in an endless cycle of “maybe next year” while your entire life stays on hold.
Not making it through prelims hurts. But clearing prelims and failing mains repeatedly, or missing the final list after years, can drain people even more mentally, financially and emotionally.
Choosing peace, stability, career growth, or a different dream is not failure. Sometimes the strongest decision is knowing when to stop.
