I’m calling for an investigation and articles of impeachment for Governor Jared Polis and his commutation of Tina Peters. Tina Peters was convicted on seven counts, including four felonies, for allowing unauthorized access to Mesa County’s voting system, lying to investigators, and obstructing the Colorado Secretary of State. She was sentenced to nine years by a jury of her peers. The Republican prosecutor who put her there called it the most aggravated attempt to influence a public servant he had ever seen. While Governor Polis has the authority to commute that sentence, he expressed no interest in doing so until Donald Trump pressured him to. Like so many of our elected leaders in this moment, the Governor chose appeasement and capitulation over democracy. A governor who uses a constitutional power to assist an unlawful federal coercion scheme has violated his oath to defend the U.S. Constitution and Colorado’s independence. This is grounds for impeachment. I am calling for an immediate investigation into any collusion between Jared Polis and the Trump administration. I am also calling on the Colorado State Legislature to convene a special session to consider articles of impeachment against Governor Polis. The election officials of Colorado fought honorably to protect your vote. Jared Polis undid that work by buckling to Trump’s threat to withhold public funds from hungry Colorado children, clean water, and disaster relief. My generation has seen the consequences of Democrats not standing up for justice, and we refuse to continue down this path. We are sick of corporate politicians putting their donors, ambition, and privilege ahead of real people. The answer to authoritarianism is not accommodation. Donald Trump‘s corrupt acts compound one after the other, and if we allow this corruption to go unanswered, it will erode what little is left of our democracy.

Almost 5 years later and people are still repeating debunked “4AM ballot dump” claims that were investigated, audited, and thrown out in court over and over again. Trump’s own administration officials, Republican election officials, judges including judges he appointed all said there was no evidence of outcome-changing fraud. More than 60 court cases. Recounts. Audits. Investigations. At some point repeating the same disproven claims isn’t “questioning democracy it’s refusing to accept reality. Trump lost in 2020. Biden won. That’s what the certified votes, courts, and election officials determined.
