Anybody seen Peter Jacksons Beatles documentary? Spoilers? Does it get scary in the end? I'm not sure i can watch part 3 if they end with something like having to throw Ringo into a vulcano!
See here's an example of what's always bugged me about blockchain stuff: the implication that this sort of thing is impossible without it, and the illusion that blockchain transcends law/democracy.
@ryanbreland@kanyewest Seven years ago, somebody created Coinye. Kanye didn't like it and threatened to sue. The media broke the story Coinye died, but if you know anything about crypto, you'll understand it's still around: Coinye.net
@amritabithi@ostschlampe@1210_MW@bitcoinarchive The Original Devs left. But Coinye never died. It's actually still here. It's an amazing demonstration of crypto resilliance that almost nobody knows about. So it's also a sobering demonstration of the power of narrative.
Whenever i've got something in the fridge and i'm not sure if it's spoiled, i just put it back until i'm absolutely sure it is. Recently i bought grapes that lasted way longer than i expected. It got seriously awkward eventually...
@capitalkiwi But consider this: Coinye has been abandoned by its original devs, rejected from every exchange, assumed to be dead by the masses, and threatened by its inspirator, yet... it is still around after 7 years. It's a pretty crazy show case for crypto resilliance.
@StopAndDecrypt@CryptoKaleo Since there's still no exchange to take on Coinye, there's no actual rate to floor; next to no supply (99.99% mined), and demand at mayyybe > 0, its market value "tragically" doomed to stay at "almost infinite" for the time being...
The new devs have started to re-use coin tickers or names of coins that went to 0 or rugged in 2013 or 2014 and I'm too triggered to read about what they do
@CoinsPaid_Media@kanyewest This is what most people believe and it's wrong. There never was an actual lawsuit; coinye was never dropped; cryptos are immune to lawyers, so YES: Coinye still exists!
@D2X_DT2 Relatively few people realize it's not dead as in fact, cryptos are immune to lawyers. So... it's still out there. Here, have some: @TipperCoinye#Donate 100 splooshes! (Check this tweet for the bot's reply)
@_mermada@Burning_Forest Coinye is still just existing. This proves a very underrated point about crypto in general: It's immune to lawyers. So keep enjoying: @TipperCoinye donate 100 fishsticks
@Burning_Forest Who here remembers Coinye? While it wasn't put out by the artist, we sure did enjoy it while it lasted. He fought very hard to get this taken down. We love our fellow fish!
@CalemJohnSmith@iamthatothi The fact that so many people believed the "fake news" that Kanye sued and therefore it died, means people still don't fully understand the concept or power of "decentralized". I believe in a shitstorm 2.0!!
@burt777@iamthatothi omg the chain is actually alive. I swear I check a year ago or 2 and yeah I couldn't find any nodes.. This is seriously cool esp in a time like rn where IP is been challenged by crypto more than ever...
@CalemJohnSmith@iamthatothi The Coinye network is fine. Blockchain is pumping blocks. Check coinye.net to find active nodes to put in your config (and fishsticks to put in your mouth!)
@patrick_oshag Coinye is a beautiful show case of the most misunderstood feature of cryptos: It's decentralized and therefore immune to lawyers. Contrary to popular belief, it's fine! (Technically.)
