@SigridOlsdottir @dr_duchesne @historyinmemes His “poetic language” is only considered poetic because he created it. I’m not saying the way he spoke wasn’t beautiful but people then wouldn’t have thought it was. I suggest looking for beauty in current society, don’t miss experiencing the Shakespeare of your time.
English

@caseyroo13 @dr_duchesne @historyinmemes It was poetic in nature whether for the common, or for the elite.
Our English today is lazy, pure and simple, to accomodate the illiterate. We have a responsibility to maintain the beauty of our language, to convey complex thoughts and emotions. The logos.
English

@SigridOlsdottir @dr_duchesne @historyinmemes Shakespearean English was considered the language of the poor back in the day. His work was written for the illiterate common man. The royal court deemed it embarrassing for the queen to be there, but she loved it. Languages evolve and change with time.
English

@dr_duchesne @historyinmemes Yes.
Worse than this, our English has gone from Shakesperean to ebonics and slang. Read X replies. It’s embarrassing.

@halalltakeaway I’ve been saying this for a decade 👏🏻👏🏻 thank you!

@DragonCobolt Humans have been enslaving each other for all of history. The Atlantic slave trade is just the most recent. Everyone has shitty ancestors.. all you can do is acknowledge it, and try to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

If you’re waking up from around the world and you’re angry.. we get it. Please be kind. The people you want to lash out at won’t see your tweets and don’t care.. those of us who do are wrapped in blankets sobbing in a corner. #USAElection2024

@SethAbramson Jason kelce smashed an a$$holes phone so… that. Plus the more coverage you give him, the more you feed his ego so we just try to smother his nonsense out.
English

@stealthgpt I used to read these as a job…you can always tell. The programs can tell. If you’re getting away with it, it’s bc your professor/teacher is letting you. Just write the paper.
English

@theninaparker I was married to a man who spoke to me like Hannah speaks… I had to go for a run after that episode I was so worked up. I would like to be clear, I despise running.
English

This last episode of #LoveIsBlind… Hannah is verbally abusive. This was rough to watch. And I’ve had shoes thrown at me on television.
English

@katefeetie Fun fact: there’s no Vanderbilt money left for him. His mom told him that before she died. There’s a whole documentary/interview about it.
English

@RexChapman Because racism/eugenics. I’m in an interracial marriage.. I had distant family tell me I was giving up my birthright (God given) by marrying outside my race… and any children we may have would be damned. 🤷🏼♀️so be it. Their god is extremely different from the God I grew up with.

I feel like lockdown revealed way more about adults’ (un) willingness to educate and teach their children and rely too heavily on educators and school systems to do the heavy lifting of actually raising them more than it revealed anything about the kids

@iemonade She’s a lead in for football families to watch and learn how much more difficult it is raising young women. It’s an extremely smart business/political move. If you want them to listen.. you start with someone/something they find interesting. Also the Kelce bros have BEEN famous.

@safetygws If you aren’t using Taylor’s writing to work through your trauma, what are you doing?
English

@Rrrrnessa I agree with you. But I better not find any of my old students acting like we didn’t discuss this IN DEPTH.
English

You know what’s to blame for this? The way that the Holocaust is taught within the educational system. The US & UK are positioned as saviours, Jews were killed & in concentration camps, then the soldiers saved them. Hitler’s rise, the propaganda, the dehumanisations isn’t covered

@waitmanb We should go into the Amazon basin and capture all the children there, cuz clearly their parents aren't qualified to teach them.
Of course, that's absurd.
Just like saying a parent who can assemble curriculums and access encyclopedic knowledge for free, isn't qualified either.

@sunshinemuseum Honestly I feel this way about my life. Maybe I should start from scratch in Rome too.
