You are wrong about so many things in this reply that I’m not sure where to begin. Your comment about the PPP adjustment doesn’t work the way you claim it does . You’re either cherry picking or using outdated data. With economic output from California (given the tech industry etc) it doesn’t fall as far as 11th. In fact it’s right behind the UK, even with the adjustment. Then you factor that California is just one of our 50 states and you’re clearly barking at the wind. I said UK made your life better and it has. You need a metropolitan region nearby even with remote work. UK is the closest and most stable. Many of your former countrymen go to the UK for employment and you know it. You started this line of discussion by using a basic understanding of statistics to put yourself ahead of your neighbors. That’s the behavior of a braggart and arrogant person. I stand by that.

NO, UK did not give me a better life, not financially anyway. In my profession and my speciality (I used to write software for derivatives in financial market) - I could earn good money anywhere, USA included. I have chosen UK for other reason. I like to live in civilised country. I did not give you figure neither did you. You are doing the same but complaining that I follow your attitude. And as I said - it is not bragging - it is just a matter of fact. As for California - yes it is a very rich state, but also with extremely high prices. I know, as my son works for Google and my friend for Amazon. But the cost of renting something decent in San Francisco is extremely high. SO if you take PPP GDP California lands on 11th place behind UK and France and 8 others

You can’t help being condescending can you? First to the country that took you in and gave you a better life and now to me; a total stranger? Forget proof, you didn’t even give a figure, just bragged that you make more of a contribution than most natural born Brit’s. Yes, California is expensive but its economy is 6th in the world and it’s just a state. I understand the conversion rate between the pound and dollar. California is beautiful and sunny so it’s worth the price for me and my family. Look, you were an arrogant ass and no amount of back peddling will change that.

Two subjects. First - if was not me who said that I do not ring anything tk this country, I just stated that I did more than majority of British born. Not as bragging (my income was not 40001 😀) Secondly - £40000 may seem not a lot for the USA, but you have remember that it is $50000 and everything (except fuel) is now cheaper in the UK than in the USA, especially states like CA. As for proof of income - you are saying that it is not a problem but you still did not prove your income and you are expecting me to do so.

Oh 40k isn’t the brag; that’s entry level here; many of our fast food employees make that much. It’s that you earn more than most Brit’s; no one asked, it’s not relevant but yet you needed us to know you’re doing better than most Brit’s..bravo sir 🙄. Yeah I have no problem with what I earned last year because I’m on my second retirement. I was in culinary school for the year and didn’t work except for temporary work in between semesters. No shame in my game lol.

I do not care if you believe me, and I am not planning to inform you about my income. I will not beg you to believe me. I just know that my income was a lot above median (to be frank as almost everyone experienced in IT), so I do not have to know everyone to say what I said. BTW - current median in the UK is around £40000 per year, so it is not difficult to be over it 😀 Train drivers are earning much more!

Yes, I know median, mode, range etc. I have my bachelors and yes statistics was included. Apparently you have selective reading as I specifically said “…without statistics.” So provide the stats and maybe I’ll believe you. Otherwise you’re just a boastful pollock who doesn’t give the British people the respect they’re due. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Seriously? You don’t know the difference between sweeping generalizations and facts? Oh brother. Ok, Americans being under 6 ft tall (I’m an exception) is a statistic. Your claim that you’ve invested more than British born as well as Your claim that you pay more taxes than most Brits comes off as a guess and a boast based on a sweeping generalization, unless you provide data. Maybe you don’t know the English language as well as you thought.

@frametofinish11 I don’t trust the media at all. Two very important pieces of legislation regarding journalism were repealed and ever since journalists are open to the highest bidder.

@clewis_74 I miss being able to trust the newspaper. Reminds me of the sourcing they showed in that HBO show "The Newsroom," even to the point losing their scoop due to holding off for two independent and trusted sources before reporting on national television.

If you still believe in the mainstream media; please look up the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine. The media used to HAVE to tell the truth; that hasn’t been the truth since 1987. Fact check me.

@frametofinish11 @JodieM2s @omoelerinjare1 I agree that CPS and abuse counselor roles should be rotated or switched out, after several years. You either lose your soul or you prove you never had one to begin with. I hate how statistics get muddled together; I believe this is intentional.

@clewis_74 @JodieM2s @omoelerinjare1 Many are, but ai think they need to rotate out of those positions with some regularity. Keep the trauma on them down, and deal with it, and keep the ego in check. I'm not so fast to credit CPS with saves that cops make, either. The stats are construed together unfortunately.

A Palm Beach County man firmly invoked his Fourth Amendment rights when police and a family services worker arrived without a warrant for a welfare check on his young daughter. Speaking calmly through his intercom with cameras recording, he asked if they had a warrant. When they said no, he refused to open the door or wake his sleeping child, told them it was harassment, and ordered them to leave. The officers departed without entering.

@clewis_74 @JodieM2s @omoelerinjare1 I used to. Avoid the generalizations that is. I used to believe that most people in govt were generally good, especially LE/courts, social workers, etc, but the truth, you get into years of them having authority over people and it corrupts beyond any acceptable threshold.

@clewis_74 @JodieM2s @omoelerinjare1 Florida does a good job, and that's true, the states where people have pushed back or shined a light on it, there are stricter regulations regarding their conduct. Valid point.

I agree that many Americans, especially in lower socioeconomic areas, do not know their rights or responsibilities and this can be used against them, without question. I think we need to shine a light on how many child fatalities due to suspected abuse and neglect occur everyday with so little attention by the media or government. Yes, some case workers will punish you for just disagreeing with them but (in my experience) most are trying to help.

@clewis_74 @JodieM2s @omoelerinjare1 Unfortunately, most Americans are entirely or largely ignorant of their rights, the law, or how to navigate the courts at all. That should be taught in school, but it isnt. CPS heavily implies they have the authority to take the children even absent any evidence of harm.

@frametofinish11 @JodieM2s @omoelerinjare1 I know that there are bad case workers and CPI’s; I know that the majority are doing it because they care; not for big paychecks (which they don’t get). I get the frustration but would avoid making sweeping generalizations and stereotypes.

@clewis_74 @JodieM2s @omoelerinjare1 When they do, they're entirely dishonest about it. They never stop and explain the implications to rights waived, nor do they give any opportunity to stop and review anything with an attorney, it's sign now or I'm taking you to court for custody of your kids.

It depends on the state; laws on child welfare vary wildly from state to state. I can tell you that in Florida they absolutely make the decisions based on Statute 39, AC65C-29, and CFOP. Calls can only be accepted as a report of abuse or neglect if there is “reasonable cause” to suspect violation of Statute 39.

@clewis_74 @JodieM2s @omoelerinjare1 Well thats the problem, they don't use a legal standard of reasonable suspicion or probable cause until they involve the police. Up until then they operate in a gray area, as they arent bound by restrictions certified law enforcement has. They leverage people without disclosure.

But Greg , since you’ve opened the door to rudeness; let’s talk about your economy. 11th-12h globally. That’s not bad for a second world country I suppose. I mean the state I live in has a much better economy (6th) and it’s one of fifty states. Your military is 28th I think. Ours is arguably number one. Sit down, you welfare using, maple syrup drinking nobody. Thanks for playing. Dick.

@clewis_74 @KatKanada_TM @liberal_party TFI was and is a NORTH AMERICAN TRANSPORTATION COMPANY. So it didn’t leave anything. Shopify was absorbed by Amazon so it didn’t ‘leave’ either. Barrick Gold became American Barrick in 1987 so nothing to do with this discussion. Trust an American to show off their stupidity
