I think the most disappointing aspect here is that people bought into the idea of the GNU because what the DA was doing in opposition worked, and they thought that would translate into government.
Now the DA is in government, and instead of taking the lessons it learnt and applying it they are just replicating what the ANC has done for the last 3 decades... but a little more efficiently.
The best example of this is the party for decades speaking out against state control, and then the first important thing John does is... double down on state control.
