@jdanplant @XiTauri @patrick_oshag Layer 1 protocols are hard to find a direct comparison in present day. Would be more apt to compare to the race for a unified protocol to create the internet which allowed for the emergence of tech companies

@jdanplant @XiTauri @patrick_oshag So post-July the majority of transaction fees will be removed from supply as part of EIP-1559. But currently transaction fees are paid to miners (in addition to the block reward) as a payment for keeping the network secure.
