The defeatist stance of @venanalysis and others is what the US State Department want us to accept - demoralise everyone, those within and those without.
The reason why we feel so strongly about not jumping to the “Chavismo is dead” and “Venezuela is now a colony” from the Western commentators here is the following…
It ignores the continued agency and resistance of Chavistas - both within the govt and in the grassroots. Yes, the project needs to be recuperated and restored as a strong anti-imperialist and socialist movement. For now, Chavismo is very clearly biding its time. Let’s support them rather than do the work of the US State Department.
