Karl Jühlke was an agent and co-founder of Germany’s Society for Colonization (Gesellschaft für deutsche Kolonisation), travelling across Africa in search of “a place in the sun” for Germans. According to witnesses, Ali killed Jühlke out of a deep hatred for Christianity

Did you know that communities including the Borana and Somali have valid claims regarding the origin of the name “Wajir,” which means “togetherness” or “convergence”? Indigenous communities established Wajir as a key caravan route owing to its complex water wells and linking Moyale in Marsabit and southern Ethiopia to Kismayu in Somalia. In 1912, the Imperial British East Africa Company made Wajir an administrative centre otherwise known as a “Boma”. After Kenya’s 🇰🇪 independence in 1963, Wajir became part of the North Eastern Province and with the promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya in 2010, Wajir was officially recognized as a distinct County. This year, Wajir proudly hosts the National Madaraka Day Celebrations, the first time such celebrations are being held in the North Eastern Region and since Wajir’s establishment. Bosaso today reflects remarkable peace, security, and beauty, as more than 10,000+ people peacefully gathered to support the matches taking place at Shuhahada Stadium during the Calmiskaad Cup.
Different supporters showed unity, peace, and togetherness, bringing back the true beauty and spirit of Bosaso. This visible security and progress are made possible by the Puntland Defense Forces, who continue to work day and night to ensure the safety of the people and the success of the tournament.
