Disability Inclusion Rwanda (DIR)

On 16/5/2026, in collaboration with Rwanda Red Cross, after training on CRPD to parents, volunteers and local leaders; Disability Inclusion Rwanda contributed to livelihood of Parents, siblings of children and youth with intellectual disabilities in Musanze District.

"Little we are; big we act". On 5/3/2026 in Headquarters, Disability Inclusion Rwanda (DIR) received the delegation from LEV and Collectif Tubakunde(CT). Supported by Self Advocates and Parents voluntarism, we support the voiceless people as much as we can. Chairperson said.

On 4/01/2026, in Eastern Province( Rwanda) Disability Inclusion Rwanda in collaboration with Sayaka organized inclusive Boccia games to Self-advocates and other children /youth without disabilities for 2026 World Inclusion Day. Inclusion accepts, unites for belonging.

IDPD 2025, Rwamagana District-Muyumbu sector, Disability Inclusion Rwanda(DIR) supported 7 families ( 5 with children with intellectual disabilities and 2 with children with multiple disabilities) in agri- husbandry. We care to support by translating disability into ABILITY.

Today, Disability Inclusion Rwanda(DIR) received SAYAKA Iijima, a student at Chuo University in Japan; visited parents and children with intellectual disabilities at Saint Jules-HUMURA and DIR Branch Office/Murehe. Together, we translate disability into ABILITY.

On 14/09/2025, Disability Inclusion Rwanda Self-Advocates attended the World Congress/ Self Advocate Summit in Sharjah, UAE. Together disability will be translated into ABILITY.

" EDUCATION FIRST". On 6/9/2025 Disability Inclusion Rwanda distributed school materials and school fees to different Self-Advocates and parents of children with disabilities for quality education 2025-2026. Be involved to support children with disabilities.

We support, care and advocate for inclusive education in Rwanda. Disability Inclusion Rwanda calls upon all Rwandans to support children and youth with disabilities as the right not a privilege. With Inclusive assistive technology, disability will be translated into Ability.

We, Self-Advocates of Disability Inclusion Rwanda(DIR), are no longer voiceless; our voice is strong to advocate for the Inclusive Assistive Technology as our right. Please, support Us to translate our disabilities into ABILITY. For sure, Inclusive Assistive Technology matters.

"Voice up to wake up" decision/policy makers, local leaders, family members, service providers and OPDs for right based Inclusive Assistive Technology; to facilitate, to support innovative ideas about the issue. Access to A.T is a right not a privilege. Simon ( ES - I.A) said.

During of 2 days(24-25/6/2025) workshop on Assistive Technology; Mihret Nigussie(Program Coordinator-Inclusion Africa) said that Assistive Technology should be developed for the full social inclusion and participation of people with intellectual disabilities in Rwanda.

On 24/6/2025,"Having a strong and committed Disability Inclusion Rwanda advocating for Assistive Technology in our country; it is a privilege and added value for our country. NCPD is committed to support and collaborate with all OPDs for effective CRPD implementation". NCPD said

In partnership with Inclusion Africa(IA) funded by IDA, Disability Inclusion Rwanda(DIR) is conducting a two days(24-25/6/25) training on Assistive Technology(AT) to decision makers, providers, family members and different OPDs.Together, we will translate disability into ability.

Today on 04/06/2025, Inclusion Africa(IA), funded by IDA, trained Disability Inclusion Rwanda(DIR) Self-advocates, Board members and Family members on Assistive Technology(AT). "A.T is a right; let involve it to strengthen the inclusion-Equity and independence".

On 8/5/2025, "Our Inclusive social economic matter"! Disability Inclusion Rwanda Chairperson and some self-advocates visited INEZA-Kabaya/Musanze Centre for CRPD and inclusive social development purpose. Due to the advocacy; Rwanda Red Cross/Musanze was involved!

Today, in collaboration with ANYMORE Onlus and HVP Humura; "We are talented NDERA CUP" has been organised. Athletes, self-Advocates and other youth without disabilities played different games together for SOCIAL INCLUSION.

"INCLUSIVE EDUCATION IS OUR SPEAR" On 9/5/2025 the Disability Inclusion Rwanda(DIR) Self-Advocates and family members delegation visited different inclusive schools in Braunschweig-Niedersachsen to experience the realities.

Voninahitsy, 15, from Madagascar, lives with cerebral palsy. His broken wheelchair made life even harder. Thanks to CBM, his family received emergency support. Now, they have hope for a new wheelchair and a better future. #CBM #DisabilitySupport #ChangingLives

On 26-27/1/2025, in collaboration with LG, Disability Inclusion Rwanda organized the advocacy workshop on right based disability stigma and discrimination eradication in Rwanda to people with different disabilities.
