President Trump’s plan to resurface the Lincoln Memorial’s Reflecting Pool with an “American Flag Blue” color has some historic preservationists feeling blue.
The nearly $2 million project will be completed in time to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration on July 4. wapo.st/4cNMhqD

@omaha_scanner @OmahaPolice Why is the officer under investigation??? Seems to me that it was pretty obvious that the officer had no choice but to save the three year old from the mentally unstable person that kidnapped the three year old and cut him with a butcher knife that she had stolen from Walmart .

Bruce Springsteen says "I don't worry" about losing fans over slamming Trump and "blowback is just part of it. I’m ready for all that."
“My job is very simple: I do what I want to do, I say what I want to say and then people get to say what they want to say about it. Those are the rules of my game. That’s fine with me. I don’t worry about if you’re going to lose this part of your audience. I’ve always had a feeling about the position we play culturally, and I’m still deeply committed to that idea of the band. The blowback is just part of it. I’m ready for all that.”
“The tour is going to be political and very topical about what’s going on in the country. Minneapolis and St. Paul, that was the place I wanted to begin it, and I wanted to end it in Washington.” (via Minnesota Star Tribune).

@Kathryn0517 @JBONAMASSA Not Bonamassa
but John Hammond Jr Joe Bonamassa was saying “RiP”

Rest in peace John . I will never forget how kind you were to me over the years. The first time I met him was on New Year's eve in 1991 when he was opening up for Buddy Guy at Irving Plaza in New York. I was asked to sit in with Buddy that night. John handed me his 1930's National guitar with 14 gauge strings on it and smiled while I struggled to get anything out of it. He was a musical troubadour, an ambassador of the blues, a brilliant musician, a documentarian, a legend and the son of a legend. This is a big loss for all of us in the Blues community. #johnhammondjr

"The photograph of Kurt Cobain in tears has been extensively published. Tilton watched Cobain smash his guitar through an amplifier and walk offstage. He followed him backstage.
The pent-up emotion 'just had to go somewhere,' says Tilton, and Cobain burst into tears. 'What I really love about it is that it is a very real moment, and he allowed it. Other artists would have said, 'Not now, lan, please!' It is very unusual," adds Tilton, "for anyone from a band to show such vulnerability!"

In 1965, a young Scottish man named Angus Barbieri (1938-1990) walked into the University of Dundee hospital with an extraordinary request: “I want to stop eating—completely.” At 207 kilograms (456 pounds), Angus wasn’t interested in conventional diets or calorie counting; he wanted to eliminate food entirely. What seemed impossible became one of the most extraordinary fasting experiments in medical history.
Under careful medical supervision, Angus began a fast intended to last only a few days. He consumed only water, tea, black coffee, and small doses of vitamins and electrolytes. To everyone’s surprise, hunger never became overwhelming. His body efficiently burned fat reserves, and week by week, month by month, he steadily lost weight. “I forgot what hunger feels like,” he remarked, astonishing doctors with his resilience.
After an incredible 382 days without solid food, Angus ended his fast in July 1966 with a simple meal: a boiled egg, a slice of bread, and some butter. By then, he had lost 125 kilograms, dropping to 82 kilograms (180 pounds). Remarkably, he never regained the weight and lived the rest of his life without major health issues. While doctors strongly warn against attempting such an extreme fast, Angus Barbieri’s journey remains the longest recorded fast in medical history—a testament to discipline, transformation, and human endurance.
