Cis people genuinely think that the way being transgender works is you decide you wanna be a girl one day, march into a hospital and go "one girl surgery please, sir!" And you wake up 12 hours later looking like a woman

@Kicksbuttson Lol isn't it enough that people have a problem with a black person playing helen of troy? Do u really need more of a reason to not cast a black woman as Helen than that?
English

"Why do you have a problem with Lupita playing Helen of Troy, but you don't care that Jason Momoa played blonde-haired blue-eyed Aquaman?"
Helen of Troy is a character (assumed to be fictional) that is fundamental to the Greek culture. Aquaman is a make-believe character loosely-tied to Greek culture only in that he hails from the mystical civilization of Atlantis.
Atlantis is at best a place-holder that Greek historians used when they didn't know who actually attacked a city. Even at the time Atlantis was first mentioned it was fictional. These days, only a few people theorize it was real because they like the idea and it makes them feel intelligent.
On the other hand, Troy was believed to be entirely fictional for generations. The stories in the Iliad and Odyssey were believed to be fiction as well. After all, you might be able to lose people to history, but you wouldn't lose an entire city, right?... Turns out, Troy actually existed. Someone found it and now it's a major part of the Greek and Turkish historical record. Turns out the city was nearly wiped from the historical record and buried, except for Homer's stories. The people and the places survived thanks to Homer writing them down. Without a doubt it's full of exaggerations and embellishments, but it's not crazy to assume that if the place actually existed (and like in the story it was besieged and destroyed, wiped from the Earth) that perhaps the people in the story are real too. Not their fantastical hyperbolic versions, but a more grounded and historically significant version of them.
Hollywood deciding that Aquaman should be of Polynesian ancestry and culture doesn't bother me because Aquaman is just a silly character that's not relevant to anyone's culture. Polynesian cultures have an immense love and reverence for the ocean, and it makes sense that Aquaman might be connected to them. Also Jason just did a good job in general, and regardless of what anyone says about the films, Jason's portrayal rose far above the silly character.

🚨Tom Aspinall picks Ciryl Gane to beat Alex Pereira by decision 👀
"A big factor in why Alex is knocking these guys out is because he’s a lot bigger than them.
A guy like Ciryl Gane is used to taking punches from big heavyweights. He didn’t get hurt by Francis Ngannou for five rounds, and he’s one of the biggest punchers in the division.
Also, Alex Pereira looks very good when he fights light heavyweights or middleweights who don’t move a lot. Ciryl Gane is a massive heavyweight who moves a lot — really fluid on his feet, in and out, judges the distance really well, and stuff like that. So stylistically, I think it’s a good matchup for Gane.
Tough one to call. But I’d say Gane by points. I think he’s just going to move too much for him and beat him on points.”
