PMDC reported that in just 2 months after its updated portal launched, 5,063 doctors and dentists applied for Good Standing Certificates, and 4,891 were issued. PMDC itself notes these certificates are commonly needed to practice abroad, apply for jobs, or pursue further education in other countries. That means roughly 84 applications per day. This is not a small signal. This is a warning sign. When so many trained professionals are preparing their papers for opportunities outside Pakistan, the question is not: “Why are doctors leaving?” The real question is: “What is making staying so difficult?” Low pay, burnout, unsafe workplaces, delayed promotions and weak protection are pushing talent out. If Pakistan wants doctors to stay, it must make staying worth it. #PayRaiseForDoctors @PakPMO @CMShehbaz @GovtofPakistan @nhsrcofficial @Financegovpk @MaryamNSharif @BBhuttoZardari @pmdcofficial @KPChiefMinister @GovernmentKP @cmopunjabpk @GovtofPunjabPK @SindhCMHouse @SindhGovtPk @PakSarfrazbugti @KamalMQM @SdqJaan

Pakistan is not a country that can afford to lose doctors. Population of Pakistan: 241.49 million World Bank/WHO physician density for Pakistan: about 1.08 doctors per 1,000 people That means roughly: 1 doctor for every 923 people And this is before we even adjust for: • doctors not actively practicing • doctors shifted to private sector only • doctors preparing foreign exams • doctors already migrated • rural areas with far fewer doctors So when even a few thousand doctors prepare to leave, it is not “personal choice” only. It becomes a national access crisis. A country with low doctor density cannot treat doctor migration as normal. Every doctor lost means: longer queues fewer staffed wards more pressure on remaining doctors more delayed care for patients Retention is cheaper than replacement. Fair pay is not only a salary demand. It is a healthcare access policy. #PayRaiseForDoctors @PakPMO @CMShehbaz @GovtofPakistan @nhsrcofficial @Financegovpk @MaryamNSharif @BBhuttoZardari @AimalWali @pmdcofficial @KPChiefMinister @GovernmentKP @cmopunjabpk @GovtofPunjabPK @SindhCMHouse @SindhGovtPk @HamidMirPAK @SamarHBilour @PakSarfrazbugti @KamalMQM @SdqJaan

Pakistan has only around 1.08 doctors per 1,000 people. That means 1 doctor for almost 923 people. Very bad ratio. Very dangerous for patients. And now trained doctors are being pushed out because of low pay, unsafe hospitals, burnout and no real future. Pakistan spends years training doctors. Then other countries take the benefit. This is not smart policy. A country with low doctor density cannot afford doctor migration. Pay them fairly. Retain them. Protect patients. #PayRaiseForDoctors @PakPMO @CMShehbaz @GovtofPakistan @nhsrcofficial @Financegovpk @MaryamNSharif @BBhuttoZardari @AimalWali @SenatorMushtaq @pmdcofficial @KPChiefMinister @GovernmentKP @cmopunjabpk @GovtofPunjabPK @SindhCMHouse @SindhGovtPk @PakSarfrazbugti @KamalMQM @SdqJaan

Pakistan treats its doctors like disposable workers. Years of hard work, mental pressure, night shifts, and responsibility for human lives, yet salaries remain insultingly low, sometimes even below guards and ride drivers. This is exploitation. #PayRaiseForDoctors

A pay raise for doctors is not charity. It is health-system protection. Minimum wage in Punjab is Rs40,000/month for 8-hour duty, Rs192/hour. Many young doctors earn around Rs65,000–70,000/month after MBBS, house job, night duties, emergency calls and 80–100 hour weeks. At 100 hours/week: Rs70,000/month doctor ≈ Rs161/hour Minimum-wage worker ≈ Rs192/hour This means a doctor can be earning less per hour than minimum wage. Fair pay means: • doctors stay • wards remain staffed • patients wait less • public hospitals become stronger Pakistan cannot build a strong healthcare system by underpaying the people who run it day and night. Respect doctors. Retain doctors. Protect patients. #PayRaiseForDoctors @PakPMO @CMShehbaz @GovtofPakistan @nhsrcofficial @Financegovpk @pmdcofficial @KPChiefMinister @GovernmentKP @cmopunjabpk @GovtofPunjabPK @SindhCMHouse @SindhGovtPk @PakSarfrazbugti @MaryamNSharif @BBhuttoZardari @mustafa_nawazk @KamalMQM @SdqJaan @HamidMirPAK @SenatorMushtaq @mjdawar @a_siab @SamarHBilour @Asad_Umar

Politicians & bureaucrats receive housing, vehicles, fuel,& countless other privileges, While Drs who save lives are not even paid according to their rightful worth. Drs must be given their legitimate rights & better salaries. #PayRaiseForDoctors @OfficialYDAPak @YdaBalochistan

Why #PayraiseForDoctors? Because in simple maths: 1 month salary of a doctor abroad 1 full year salary of a Pakistani house officer Pakistan house officer: PKR 69,600/month = PKR 835,200/year UK/Australia basic monthly doctor pay, when converted to PKR, can cross this yearly amount. This is not fair pay. This is talent export. #PayRaiseForDoctors @CMShehbaz @BBhuttoZardari @MaryamNSharif @AimalWali @HamidMirPAK @SenatorMushtaq @mjdawar @SamarHBilour @mustafa_nawazk

What are these judges doing for the nation which doctors aren’t? House rent allowance increased suddenly from 65k to 350k for Supreme Court judges and this is just one allowance besides their salary! On the other hand, doctors’ salaries have remained the same for the last 5 years despite the dollar rising by 100% and petrol prices by 270%. This exploitation needs to end, otherwise no doctor would want to serve the nation! @pmdcofficial @KamalMQM #PayRaiseForDoctors
