@JoePompliano I mean, homeboy married a Walton. That literally catapulted his land ownership + gave him a loophole to owning multiple pro teams.

Stan Kroenke is on a generational run right now. In the last five years, his teams have won the... • Super Bowl (LA Rams) • NBA Finals (Denver Nuggets) • Stanley Cup (Colorado Avalanche) • Premier League (Arsenal) He also owns SoFi Stadium, which has hosted the Super Bowl, the CFP National Championship Game, upcoming World Cup matches, and the 2028 Olympics opening/closing ceremony. Not to mention, Kroenke also recently became the largest private landowner in the United States, with 2.7 million acres. That's roughly the combined size of Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Philadelphia, and San Antonio.

Vancouver (and BC)is quietly becoming serious players in the future economy. Companies like D-Wave, Photonic, Sanctuary AI, AbCellera, Clio, and Sierra Space are proof we can compete globally in quantum, AI, biotech, aerospace, and advanced computing. Problem is the Province still governs like it’s 1998. BC needs a dedicated Future Economy office or czar focused on: - quantum computing - AI infrastructure - semiconductors - energy strategy - talent retention - commercialization - global investment attraction I would happily take that on and build out the team for this. The next economic boom won’t happen accidentally.

@seanorr Should the city own the team? Like the packers? Would be a great community asset. Allocate tickets to families thy can’t go to games etc

If every citizen of BC put up $100 we could buy the Whitecaps. 🤔

@KarmSumal @seanorr Yes I’ve met him before as well and understand. I’m just pro opportunity and just because it’s an incredible long-shot doesn’t mean it’s bad. Let’s just do cool shit and fix what we need to 🤷‍♂️🍻

Exactly. Sean gets it. I know him, he’s better than these attacks. He supports jobs especially in hospitality. Sports and events help there and this would be permanent unlike fifa or even Olympics. Plus this won’t cost taxpayers anything. My nephews could work here when they get older. Plus something for them to do 81 times a year. We all know Vancouvers stigma. Let’s try to erase it.

Can't say I've ever seen this before. Referee Chris Schlenker trips and smacks the back of his head on the ice. Despite being on PK duty, Brock Boeser stops playing and skates toward Schlenker to get him medical attention, leading to a LONG shift for LA in the #Canucks zone

@KarmSumal @seanorr Exactly, We need to get things in order with sports (whitecaps) and yes there are other problems in BC or Vancouver. But that doesn’t stop us from putting out ideas that could be prosperous for the city and people in the future however unlikely it might be.

Exactly. At least step on the field and try. I don’t know if we get a team. But I know you damn well won’t if you don’t even try. Fuck it’s so frustrating to see generations in this city without a backbone. Just a revolving door of negativity and “if my circle doesn’t like it no one should like it” attitude. Very divisive and I think Vancouver for all its diversity deserves better effort to expand. Whether you are left, right or centrist. This is a no brainer. MLB mentioned Vancouver a couple times in sports shows. Why not try?

So why even try? Like wtf? If a group actually comes forth. Big if. I know. Then what? Still a gimmick. Fuck this is what’s wrong with the city. Because you don’t want it no one should appreciate it the attempt? This would be an economic jolt. And I don’t see this as a Ken thing. It’s a Vancouver thing. I’m pretty sure Kennedy Stewart was for this too. May be mistaken though. If so I’ll eat crow on that claim

10 things I hate about being a CEO: 1. The Echo Chamber Repeating myself is a daily ritual. It's like Groundhog Day. I've seriously considered recording my key points and playing them on loop. This is probably why I write. It lets me communicate things in one place that can be referenced later. 2. Always On Remember the last time you truly unplugged? I don't. Even when I'm off duty, my brain is like a hamster on a wheel, always running through business scenarios. Work-life balance is a term that's thrown around a lot, but in my experience it's as elusive as a unicorn. 3. Shit Rolls Uphill This might come as a surprise, but in any leadership role, shit rolls uphill. And guess who's sitting at the top of that hill? It's like being the goalie in a never-ending penalty shootout. 4. Pressure Cooker Lifestyle I don’t think about pressure like it’s just a setting on my Instant Pot because what it REALLY is, is in my constant companion. You might think CEOs are wired differently and immune to stress, but we just get better at hiding it. 5. Boardroom Blues Board meetings can be a mixed bag, ranging from insightful discussions to glorified babysitting sessions. Managing a board of directors is like being in Squid Game, except the rules change every time you get together. If you're lucky, you have a great board and they are useful. Worst case, they are self-serving and will create negative value. 6. Days of Mystery Ever get home from work and ask “what the f-ck did I do today?” That's a question I often ask myself. Some days it's all about putting out fires. Other days it's strategic planning. But ask me to describe a typical day and I'd be stumped. 7. Loneliness at the Top They say it's lonely at the top. I don't know who "they" is, but holy sh-t they were right. Sure, I have a team, co-founders, a board, advisors. But at the end of the day, the buck stops with me. It's like being on an island where you're the mayor, the handyman, and the only resident. 8. Decision Fatigue This is the idea that the more decisions you make, the worse they become. My day is a series of decisions, from the mundane to the monumental. Sometimes by the end of the day I can't even decide what I want for dinner. If I'm being honest, I still haven't cracked this one. 9. The Constant Learning Curve The learning never stops. Just when I think I've got a handle on things, the business world throws me a curveball. Staying ahead means being a perpetual student, and it's exciting but also exhausting. This might be one of those parts of the job I love most too. Weird how that works. 10. The Weight of Responsibility Being a CEO means carrying the weight of the entire company on your shoulders. It's about people's livelihoods and their dreams, not just profits. This responsibility can keep you up at night, pondering the "what ifs." Whenever I think I might be an emotionless monster, I remind myself that I have many sleepless nights wondering if I'm letting my team down. I'm not complaining. I chose this. But you should know this before you take the leap.

BREAKING... This is Concord Pacific's revised concept to redevelop its vacant waterfront site at Northeast False Creek. Far more ambitious with towers up to 60 storeys, 5,000+ homes & ample retail/restaurants in a "car-lite" area. #vanre #vancre #vanpoli dailyhive.com/vancouver/conc…

@iamkennethchan For me the park space is key. Seems like there is more in this current proposal. Plus activating the seawall with restaurants and bars is just smart that close to venues.
