@PhaseTw00 @BrianCoh1 @prestonstew_ Yeah I agree with you. I followed him on tiktok at the start of the war. He was rooting for Ukraine, but posting everything equally. Somehow, 1-2 years ago his bias skewed too much on Ukrainian side, and only posting his own narrative. He is a boderline nafo account now.

@duong0124 @BrianCoh1 @prestonstew_ He's a total Ukraine fanboy these days. I'm not claiming Russia isn't the agressor in this conflict, it certainly is, but his coverage of this war is heavily and suspiciously biased. If Ukraine was "winning" this conflict, it would have regained all of its lost territories.

"100,500 Nazis were destroyed, 500 NATO instructors and ten NATO generals. Oh wait - 20 NATO generals. There aren't even any explosions. It's just very expensive hardware being buried in the ground. All for the sake of a pretty picture, which no one (except for pensioners) believes in anymore." -Russian milblogger Romanov on last nights Oreshnik strike on Ukraine

@BrianCoh1 @prestonstew_ Preston has become a full time propagandist. If in year 1-2, he was at least somewhat reliable, now he just posts whatever fits his narrative.

@duong0124 @quilssachent @zapatas_mom I understand the overall message but love, community, friendship and health don't necesseraly mean kids. Plenty of childfree old people testify they are hapoy with their decision. Plenty of elderly parents are alone. Family is far from one size fit all.

I am a childless person who actually really likes and tolerates children well (probably for being a teacher for so long), but all the parents in the comments and QTs sound genuinely bitter and jealous. If your life is fuller with kids, you don’t generally get mad at childless people have their own thing going on.. right ? So weird.

@obolobova @BrianMcDonaldIE I have seen many Russian teachers create an environment where students feel hesistant to challenge them. You can see it in Russian ballet too. It feels like more of a personal teacher thing, in asia too. Maybe success due many factors including post soviets type of education.

My guess is that Russian STEM schools effectively force students to think outside the box. For example, it is fairly common for exams to include problems that were not covered in the curriculum (like, not covered at all). Students may also be given problems with deliberately flawed assumptions, or problems that have no solution. The idea is that if you are not capable of figuring this out, then you do not belong in a good school. The Russian system also encourages students to argue with teachers. If you find a mistake in a teacher’s solution, or come up with a better one, THEN you are cool. Maybe this is an outdated stereotype, (so correct me if I’m wrong), but my understanding is that in East Asian education systems students are not expected to challenge the professor openly. I would guess that this kind of "stress creativity" imposed on Russian students might help in math competitions.

Russian biologist Mikhail Nikitin claims that children raised in Russia and some other parts of Eastern Europe are culturally “predisposed” toward mathematics in ways many American children are not, citing stronger social expectations around maths education and academic competition. He also insists that the gender gap seen in elite US maths Olympiads “largely disappears” among Asian Americans and girls of Eastern European background.

@foxmaddie8 @quilssachent @zapatas_mom Tbh, really hard. You like hotdogs when you just become an adult and out of the house, but after eating it for a week or a month, i don't see people prefer it over home cook meal. Yes, sometimes you want to eat a hot dog, but rating it over home meal?

@GoToLunarValley @quilssachent @zapatas_mom I guess we will not see eye to eye on this. I believe people are different, but what makes all people around the globe happy is same things: love, community, friendship, health. That's why vast majority of people who have traveled and have kids will say that kids bring more joy

@duong0124 @quilssachent @zapatas_mom That you and totally valid. What you miss is that other people can feel different just because they are different. Having kids is lifechanging. That's fact. Many people don't want to be parents and do other things. Some people are parents and do other things. That's all.

@RealJarnoSays @RelhatsT @RealDianeYap For a parent it will always feels like a major accomplishment because most of the parents put their all into doing it. You can half ass your vacation, you can half ass eating food, but most likely you will always try your hardest to raise a child

I wasn't comparing number of travels vs kids, people need to make that judgement for themselves. But saying something is hard and difficult when everyone on the planet does it since the history of mankind is not real of course. And if you want more people to have kids it is the last thing you want to say. It is easy and comes natural. Sure it takes time and effort, like much in life but, if anyone can do it, it is average at best.

Having kids is not an accomplishment Any boob can get someone pregnant. No one wants to hear about your kid’s unimpressive accomplishments. Different people enjoy different things, Joe. You see how the argument works against your preferences as well?
Joe Cassandra@JoeCassandra

Traveling is not an accomplishment Any boob can get on a plane and rent an Airbnb. No one wants to hear about your pasta tour in Italy. Yes, I've traveled to dozens of places and lived abroad. In the end,the best memories come from your time with your wife and kids doing normal stuff like going to their Little league games.

@duong0124 @quilssachent @zapatas_mom I don't think people choose one over the other. One alternative make them happy while the other does not. Different people have different source of happiness. I feel like it's a very basic concept.

@quilssachent @zapatas_mom What is truly a percentage of parents neglecting their kids vs not? Yes, it is indeed hard for me to see that people will choose travel over having kids. It's like choosing a hot dog over a homecook meal.

@duong0124 @zapatas_mom True - we never see parents neglect their kids, leaving them behind to go party or, you know, travel. Everybody who’s ever had a child has been a stand-up parent who prefers their kids to all other activities 🙄 How hard is it to understand not everyone likes what you do?

@zapatas_mom It's just incomprehensible to a parent, that people in original vid compared having kids to traveling. Having kids beats almost anything, maybe behind having a partner or/and friendship.

The best restaurant employees, knowing that they can earn more, will only work at tipping restaurants. The worst resto employees will work at the places without tips. If you think the service is bad in Europe, wait until you see what happens when you put the same incentive structure on top of US labor. If Danny Meyer and duopolists like Uber couldn’t make no-tipping work, a viral tweet by someone who thinks they know restaurants because they eat at them isn’t going to either.
Spencer@KalanisCalves

Dear restaurant industry, Please raise your menu prices by 20% on everything and let’s just be done with the tipping altogether. I’m not here to manage your staff. If the service sucks, we just won’t come back. Signed, A lot of us

I had Khamzat winning this fight but barely. I had 1,4,5. I lost a lot of respect for khamzat. Win or loss aH, but to kiss and say I love you to the man who disrespected Islam and his own mom, smh. Khabib and Islam would have never let that slide. Bro is focused only on money.
