EMBl-EBI Web Dev & UX
@ebi_web_ux
The unofficial Twitter home of EMBL-EBI Web Development and UX. Aka, two partridges in a pear tree.

Today is my last day at @emblebi. I've been fortunate to have worked with many talented people so I've written a retrospective of my 9 years there to thank them for their support and highlight the main outcomes of our collaboration: linkedin.com/pulse/9-years-…

I presented a case study from my earlier work for @OpenTargets to introduce the basic principles of #uxdesign and inspire others to apply them to their own projects. YouTube recording: youtube.com/watch?v=35R8a1… Presentation with links to resources: doi.org/10.17044/scili… 2/2

The case for #accessibility in 4 lines: Don’t create barriers for the many people who have accessibility requirements. This will help everyone else too and we won’t be fined. Find out how we improved the accessibility of the @emblebi site at @PistoiaAlliance's UXLS conference.

This week we released version 2.5.8 of the @embl visual framework which improved the functionality, usability and accessibility of certain components. A small but significant step forward, building on the great work of @khawkins98 & @StuRobson: stable.visual-framework.dev/updates/2022-0…

Yesterday I presented the learnings from our recent round of user feedback on the @emblebi site to our leadership. It was so encouraging to see again that they are interested not only in principles of good UI design but also in the underlying organisational and #content #strategy

We are looking for a mid-weight Digital Product Designer to join @ebi_web_ux and help us shape the identity of our design system and empower scientists worldwide to solve the biggest challenges in biology, medicine, biodiversity and climate change: embl.org/jobs/position/…

In flow working on mockups in @figma by applying patterns from our Visual Framework. Unthinkable a year ago so I'm grateful to @cindynatassia @khawkins98 @StuRobson @Tabea_R & my colleagues @ebi_web_ux @emblebi & the @embl design team who've worked on it: stable.visual-framework.dev

Many thanks to @Prakash_web, Mahfouz Shehu, @cindynatassia, Sandeep Kadam, @abroadbent11, @Slmorg, @BixSwan, @ajaymishra_am and our other colleagues from @ebi_web_ux & @EBItraining who have been applying #uxdesign within an #agile framework for the @emblebi Training site.

Absolutely honoured and proud to have been involved as a UX researcher on this project and collaboration. One of the most satisfying moments while working for EMBL-EBI.

Today's the final day @StuRobson is applying design system expertise at @embl and @emblebi to craft a component library for life science websites. We'd never have come this far without you. You've left us the foundation we need. All the best for what's next and one more thanks!
