a cats movie would NEED to be done by someone who loves cats with a clear artistic vision who REALLY wants to be making a cats movie. like obviously that's the ideal scenario for any adaptation but for cats it's an absolute MUST to create anything other than dogshit

i'm at that awkward middle stage of being Into Film where my taste really isn't deep at all but because my top 4 has like a french film from the 60s and a new hollywood film and most of my favorites are pre-2000s i get sorted into the pretentious box by the 5 movies a year crowd
