🚨 NEW: Rachel Reeves has told friends she wants to stay on as Chancellor if Keir Starmer is ousted
Her supporters have been telling MPs that only she can safeguard Britain’s finances
[@Guardian]
Rachel Reeves cutting VAT on family summer activities is exactly the kind of practical politics people want to see.
Helping families afford days out, freezing fuel duty and easing pressure during the holidays instead of endless culture wars?
More of this please.
@MichaelRei77295@redrumlisa The government are the biggest winners from the fuel rise at the pump. They could drop fuel tax and VAT and still collect the same as before the war started. But at least we can put kids in the bus for free. 👀
@redrumlisa And your work doesn't help you at all with that expense? Yea, it's definitely the government that's at fault for that and not the private company that's rinsing you like a dirty dish
My rent has risen by £600 pa, Council tax £200, food bill £500, petrol £3k, gas & electric £200, water & Internet also gone up & my income has risen by £3k and we are supposed to be happy that families will get a £20 discount at Alton Towers - This Labour Government really know how to make work pay dont they. Slow handicap for 'I have manners but no sense Reeves'
BREAKING: The chancellor has announced a temporary cut to VAT on attractions including zoos, theme parks and cinemas.
Rachel Reeves: 'What matters for families is not just getting by, but being able to enjoy time together without worrying about the next bill.'
@RachelReevesMP 😂 So out of touch. People need more money. Tax cuts. Real savings so we can pay the bills never mind children’s trips. Family economic plans are simple, bills and food first, fun with anything thats left, which is naff all.
I want every family to have fun this summer. That's why I’m cutting VAT on children’s activities and meals with Great British Summer Savings.
Our economic plan is the right one, to support families and businesses, and build a stronger and more secure Britain.
@RachelReevesMP How is that helping me pay the bills and the cost of living weekly increases. That’s why you get hammered all the time. This is a pathetic attempt to gain some support. Won’t change a thing for most people.
Good news for families - every child aged 5-15 in England will travel free on buses this summer, with unlimited journeys, no registration required, and no cost to families.
Our economic plan is the right one. Tackling the cost of living and building a stronger Britain.
The UK desperately needs another referendum on the EU.
65% want to Rejoin, that’s the fact of the matter.
It’s getting beyond stupid.

@PolitlcsUK Load of Rubbish. He wasn’t part of any of the legislation that led to the untangling of the Uk from Europe. Maybe if he was things would be different.
🚨 WATCH: Keir Starmer says Nigel Farage is not "just a grifter, he is a chancer"
"He said Brexit would make us richer... wrong... he said it would reduce migration... wrong... he took Britain for a ride, and unlike the Tories, he just fled the scene"
THERE SHOULD BE NO BENEFITS FOR FOREIGN BORN IMMIGRANTS UNLESS THEY HAVE WORKED FOR 10 YEARS CONSECUTIVELY AND PAID TAX FOR THE SAME PERIOD.
DO YOU AGREE?
@Wesleyhzn@ActionBrexit For immigrants that’s £10.1 billion in 2024. That’s 1/6th of our total defence budget we don’t need to pay out. It’s astounding piss poor that can happen when we can’t float a ship to protect our base in Cyprus for weeks on end.
@ActionBrexit 83% of all benefits claimants are British born. 16% are immigrants. What about home grown scroungers who also complain about immigrants yet on the dole themselves?
@F1Sauce@thanos876 Yeah very true. They changed the rules to first at the apex owns the right to the corner. You just brake really late and be first at the apex. Caused mayhem. Batshit idea.
@Imogenlemon02 No they don’t. What they want is more money in their pockets and a reversal on immigration. So far the economy is stagnant, at best, and Labour have done more U-turns than I can remember. That’s not stability but definitely consistent.
We are 3 years away from the next general election, Labour backbenchers who are panicking need to calm right down.
Turning the tide after 14 years of Tory incompetence was never going to happen in 2 years.
Voters want stability and consistency from government. Not panic.
