It must be noted that a cuneiform input method¹ has been available for Mac OS X since 2011. However, it uses an old version of what is now the OGSL, and has some limitations: ASCII fallbacks, confusing candidate numbering, etc.; see its README. These are solved in 𒂗𒈨𒅕𒃸.

One of my favourite features in Akkadian is that sometimes(!) the adverbial marker -iš can be used like the English -ish. abru "brushwood pile" -> abriš "like a brushwood pile", or in other words: brushwood pileish 😁

@ZachMRubin @IrisKamil I am confused by those ED IIIb attestations in oracc.org/epsd2/o0029130; the one 𒄖𒍝 is from a composite whose witnesses both seem to be OB, and the rest are spelled 𒄘𒍝, in one case in 𒄘𒍝​𒌝𒄙 oracc.org/epsd2/o0163738; why are the 𒄘𒍝 not oracc.org/epsd2/o0029133?

@IrisKamil It pops up in Early Dynastic IIIb texts (thanks ePSD2!), and by this point Akkadian personal names are well attested in Mesopotamia

Multiple Semitic words for 'chair', such as the Hebr. כיסא /kiˈse/, Aram. כסא /kiˈse/, Ugaritic 𐎋𐎒𐎜 /kussīʾu/ & supposedly also Arab. كرسي /kur.sijː/ all derive from Akkadian 𒄖𒍝 kussû. The Akkadian word itself is a loan from Sumerian 𒄑𒄖𒍝 (giš.)GU. ZA "(wooden) throne"!

@AANDeloucas @cwjones89 I suspect part of the mastodon flop may have been people failing to find each other: for instance of the 7 assyriologists I follow there, it appears that you follow two. I’m not sure how that could be facilitated, regardless of the platform.
