A highlight of last week's 1.30 release is that Chapel's emerging support for unified GPU programming is increasingly competitive with hand-coded CUDA, while @AMD GPU support has reached feature parity with NVIDIA for single-locale codes. For more info: chapel-lang.org/blog/posts/ann…

One of the most exciting things from our project's past year has been how quickly our GPU sub-team has gotten Chapel's features for parallelism and locality targeting GPUs. Watch Engin Kayraklioglu's CHIUW 2022 talk for a great introduction to this effort: youtube.com/watch?v=2n9w5z…

The Computer Language Benchmarks Game has just been updated to reflect our recent Chapel 1.26.0 release, Ubuntu 22.04, and some new codes. Chapel and Julia continue to own the lower-left of our code size x performance plots while C dominates in raw perf. benchmarksgame-team.pages.debian.net/benchmarksgame…

The most underrated and overlooked programming language, in my opinion, is @ChapelLanguage. Primarily designed for supercomputing, it's always as fast or faster than any other language I've used, and it's very feature-rich with respect to abstract data structures.

@Jas_Hughes I looked at the snippet for a good while to see what is so special about the syntax. Then I saw the replies. No harm done, though, @julialanguage enjoys flattery! :)

I really like #julialang function definition syntax for occurring in the order I think of things: 1. I'm writing a function! 2. With a name that describes its tasks! 3. And it needs these arguments! plus, you can copy/paste `FunctionName(arg1, arg2)` and re-use it elsewhere.
