This seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy. No push by the government to get this non-mask wearing age group vaccinated (who are either in daycare or cared for by grandparents). A failure on so many levels. May need to go out of province again...

@carlyweeks Exactly this. Unable to schedule a second dose for my two year old. No specialized clinics, etc. There is no push/support from government to increase vaccination. Absolutely terrible.

COVID-19 vaccine uptake for kids under 5 is low—only 6.5% have received at least 1 dose in the 3ish months it’s been avail. While some (much?) of this may be due to hesitancy & misinfo, I wonder how many parents are giving up because it’s so timely/inconvenient to make an appt.

I love this video from RIKEN in Japan. It models the flow of exhaled air in various different settings under different conditions. As well as the flow patterns being very beautiful, it also highlights the importance of good quality masks (FFP2/FFP3) twitter.com/la_resistensia…

Apparently we can’t look to most governments for this kind of clear messaging on the airborne nature of sars-2 (and other respiratory pathogens). This is a great video. Please amplify/pass it on.

@BogochIsaac It landed in my home this week after being extremely careful for 2+ yrs through my 2 yr old’s daycare. It’s extremely depressing to not feel like you have any control because of 1) poor gov’t policy and 2) individual indifference. It’s not fair to our vulnerable. 2/2

@BogochIsaac As ppl have stated: you can’t die 2x. This info is not reassuring if it’s going to inform policy that will result in no mitigation efforts being made. There’s no such thing as returning to pre-pandemic normal. 1/2

This BA.2 wave is different in ON compared to other waves. It is still a significant challenge & we still can/should do more to reduce infection rates. But look at hospitalizations & deaths in this wave (so far) VS previous - & this is in the context very few mitigation efforts.
