@LawReading @moveincircles We don't. I did quilting, painting, papercrafts, canning, & others. As the kids get older, I had them help. It was much more fun. I didn't even start knitting until the youngest was 2.

Better to talk honestly about how mothering radically rewires women’s brains, and how (while a bit disorienting at first) this is an amazing personal transformation on a par with going through adolescence into adulthood
𝓛𝓮𝔁𝓲𝓮 💗@softpinkgiggles

We need to talk about the grief of losing your entire identity to motherhood while the man you married gets to keep his hobbies, his freedom, and his career completely uninterrupted.

@wil_da_beast630 Stereotypes exist because people insist on living down/up to them. If you watch Married with Children and think it's real, you need to change something.

This...is just how stereotypes work. The second best hooper I know is Asian - Fillipino. This does not make me think that most Asians IN America are star-level athletes.
Sizwe SikaMusi@SizweLo

bell hooks said that White people will meet a Black person who completely challenges every racial stereotype that they have, but rather than giving up the stereotypes, they create a special category for that person and say, things like “Well, you’re not like other Black people”, instead of saying, “My ideas of Black people were too narrow”. This is called “subtyping” and it leads to the survival of negative stereotypes because the new category individual who’s supposedly “not like the others” is mentally isolated from the group. What this shows is that bigotry is all about protecting an existing hierarchy and it doesn’t matter much whether a person is exposed to other people or not. Which is why meeting intelligent, kind, accomplished, or complex Black people does not dismantle prejudice if someone is emotionally invested in keeping the stereotype intact. Exposure to facts and figures doesn’t change the situation either. Someone can know the statistics on crime, education, poverty, or discrimination and still keep racial stereotypes because the stereotype preserves a sense of superiority and avoids confronting historical responsibility. This is part of why bell hooks further argued that racism is emotional and ideological more than just purely ignorant, which is then why facts by themselves usually do not overcome a worldview that a person is motivated to preserve.

This is one of the most notable things about the twitter sex conversation - it seems to take place almost entirely between guys who ARE a little over-line, and could stand to turn the porno off for a bit...and literal Christian nuns and lesbian rad-fems, who are way crazier. Normal "He wants it three times weekly, I prefer two - we compromise plus I get a massage" couples are totally absent.
sydney 🐶@720pgirl

@tinycharlll People always base these arguments on the assumption that sexual desire is a male quality and that women begrudgingly agree to have sex to make their partners happy but, at best, maintain a 'meh I could take it or leave it' mindset. And This is misogynistic

@wil_da_beast630 Do these chicks not have a man around? I mean, the dirty lines about getting laundry out of the washer & dryer is because it's real. And honest people know who has the power in that moment. (he said ok to more plants at the garden store 🤷‍♀️)

No, thinking "I bet I can make her (cum)" is not "openly, violently DEGRADING" and not "from PORN!" Normal humans think physical things about sex, as well as "catching tender feelings." Thinking "I hope he has a big dick/she's tight," or whatever is...perfectly fine. People were far cruder when I was a kid. Football teams and normal working-class couples set the standard, Penthouse Forum was sold in every bookstore, and 20 years of almost-hysterical online feminism had not yet happened. Check out any song or movie from the era - Lords of Acid, 2 Live Cru, etc.
Not a Good Jewish Girl✡️@estherzelda0514

If he's in therapy for porn addiction it's definitely not working. Like I get catching tender and sexual feelings for a smart woman that listens to you without judgment. But theorizing about the tightness of her asshole and "fucking her brains out"? That's porn. I do not think that 17th century peasants were this inventive. I think man's natural state is down bad, sure, but having openly violently degrading thoughts to the point of constant distraction? That's being brainwashed into a psychopath by porn.

@wil_da_beast630 A few years ago I led a Christian couples conference on sex. I was pleasantly surprised by how many couples reported healthy experimentation & strong sexual satisfaction. My favorite discovery: most couples have hilarious, highly creative code words for asking about having sex.

@wil_da_beast630 It doesn't matter if it happened or not. If it was that bad, chickie should've have reported it immediately. Instead, she waits 30 years until she can get something out of it. We can't reward people for failing to have a spine when it actually counts.

This was one of the craziest modern-era stories/scandals. I still think there's at least a 20-30% chance Ford was telling the truth - 80s-90s HS and college parties were WILD. But remember the other allegations about rape gangs and fights on boats and such? These scum threw the whole chamber pot at the boy, missed, and just yelled "BELIEVE ALL WOMEN" and moved on.
Daniel Friedman@DanFriedman81

Brett Kavanaugh, a man in his 50s, had been valedictorian of his high school, at Yale College and a star student at Yale Law, had clerked for the Supreme Court, had a top career as an appellate lawyer and federal judge and a pristine reputation, and then a random woman from the town he grew up in claimed he had groped her at a party 35 years earlier when they were in high school. Kavanaugh didn’t try to argue that the incident was consensual. He didn’t claim he remembered things differently than she did. He immediately stated that he had never even met the accuser. Denying ever meeting the accuser is a much stronger claim than merely denying assaulting her, and much easier to refute. After Kavanaugh made this denial, Christine Blasey-Ford no longer had to prove he had sexually assaulted her to scuttle his nomination, she only had to prove that the two of them had attended a party together at which such an assault might have occurred. She was unable to do so. She did not know whose house the alleged assault occurred at. None of the people she claimed attended the party corroborated any aspect of her account. Leland Keyser, a friend of Blasey-Ford’s, who the accuser claimed was at the alleged party, said she recalled no such event and had never met Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh produced a detailed calendar he had kept during the summer Blasey-Ford alleged she was assaulted, which included his whereabouts of every weekend night and listing who he was with. Kavanaugh argued that he could alibi himself and provide witnesses for any night Blasey-Ford claimed she might have been at a party with him. Blasey-Ford responded that she did not know the date of her assault and was not entirely certain it even occurred that year. Instead of being seen as persuasive, Kavanaugh’s calendar was mocked in both mainstream and social media because the reason he kept it was for a drinking contest he was having with his friends. Nearly a decade later, there is still not a single shred of proof or a single witness who will corroborate the claim that Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey-Ford were ever in the same room before she testified at his confirmation hearing. Nonetheless, people like Nick Kristof still claim Kavanaugh was “credibly accused” of sexually assaulting this woman.

@wil_da_beast630 These seem to hinge on too many variables. Is it a temporary thing, or for years in your 20s? Is there a major stressor going on? I shut down in high stress times, he's...more interested. Did you both agree to birth control? If yes, shut up, you chose it.

@wil_da_beast630 @RudeOnion After raising 4 kids & working public facing jobs since, a perfect treat day (weekend?) is wine & salad in the fridge, all groceries bought so I don't have to leave the house, and they go somewhere else so I can putter, sew, garden, by myself. And I 'forget' to charge my phone 😆

@wil_da_beast630 I like to think glassing Gaza is perfectly in line with a specific OT event, where a town was wiped out after the rape of ONE girl. Quite brutally, too. They were all killed while recovering from circumcisions. The NT's 'turn the other cheek' is for personal offenses.

Yes. YES, a war and 60,000 casualties - while losing 3,000 or whatever of your best men - is a reasonable response to the murder-rapes of 1,200 of your girls...which we now know occurred. This "won't someone think of the poor, poor Arab terrorists!" shit is suicidal, quite literally.
Not Bob Ross@jason_finazzo

@wil_da_beast630 @JoeGayHistorian Even if true, is this a reasonable response?

@wil_da_beast630 Sure policy reforms which enable equal treatment (not opportunity or results) under the law are good, but infringements on the freedom of (dis)association are incredibly damaging. We should let organic social mechanisms handle the way that people relate to each other.

A point I'm never going to back down from is that the First Waves of civil rights, feminist, and union activism were good. Like, it is a positive thing that you can vote if you're Mexican, go to college and/or play sports there as a Black guy, NOT get married at 12 as a girl, etc. Real image of the past below. Shout to our Great Hero Fathers...and Mothers.

@wil_da_beast630 1- even the catechism recommends it. I wish Catholics were more straightforward about this. 2- hubby used to tell co-workers who complained of dead bedrooms 'try this 1 hack'. 3- women have been told we're 'dirty' or 'smell like fish' for ages. He's got to work against that
