@Akademiks These aren't the numbers you and other Drake lovers were saying this album was going to get. I thought it was going to do 750,000? With all the promo and anticipation, it didn't even go gold. That's crazy to me.

@ChiseledTablet @swizzyswipe @Spotify From what you posted Drake is already up by almost a 100 million streams and that's one one platform. There are also several videos on YouTube from the album. If you are an expert you can do the breakdown

Please make this even make sense??? 😂😂😂😂 Drake can’t even fill a stadium he has never headlined his own stadium tour so maybe let’s not get ahead of ourselves & focus on that first… UMG wouldn’t be forced to do anything… 😂 Nobody is logical thinkers anymore… I hate it here. lol Labels don’t invest emotionally it’s more so strategic, The streaming era made Artist look bigger than they actually are. It’s wild for years mfs said Drake bigger than the “machine” now the conversations are will the machine still back him… lol well they are for these 3 albums. You have to understand how private equity works, them firms are not music Stan’s and fans Chile… these mfs invest for control ownership stakes etc. An independent private equity backed artist now answers to investors, performance metrics, tour targets etc you just switching the big dawgs out for new bosses.
CY Chels@SeewhyChels

🚨 Rory & Mal debate Drake potentially asking UMG for a $5 BILLION deal after ICEMAN Mal says if Drake “holds up five fingers” in negotiations, Universal would have no choice but to seriously consider it because of how much money Drake has generated for the company the pod also discusses Drake possibly going independent with private equity backing… with Rory saying it could become one of the most industry changing artist deals ever “I think a lot of things changed Thursday night.”

@beforebarter @swizzyswipe @Spotify if people bought the album(s) instead of streamed, or his camp wasn't relying on stream spambots, his physical or actual units would be better. There's a reason they're low, while his streaming does crazy numbers.

@MoYeeezy @swizzyswipe Are you guys this dumb? He even said on the album that there'll be no CDs or vinyls. Maybe that will come later on but he is not trying to bundle his way to boost numbers

@ogheneyxle Michael Jackson was not accessible yet people still tried to take him down. Being the biggest means you will have a lot of haters. The critics will always be there and if you go back to the days of take care you will still find them. Live for the fans not the haters

drake’s accessibility is why critics hate [dismiss] him. what good is art assessment if you don’t need critics to write breakdowns? where’s the exclusivity? the assurance of intellectual superiority? — “it must be less, since it is simple”. but he’s one of the best writers of this generation and the one before him. he’s written for his idols across genres.

@princeganaku They want him to get a wife, cheat on her then rap about growing up after going to therapy for cheating on the wife. If you're not a fan of an artiste just sit out the album and wait for the hits to party to.

On the same album where he talks about a. Feeling hurt about his long time friends switching up on him b. Having problems with people who used to be his idols c. Parenting his parents and his dad being sick d. How he somehow is the one with a bad reputation when others won’t even stand up for their own people e. How he felt about everything that happened over the last 2 years f. How all his close friends are now doing well in their own lives Are these not experiences that everyone can relate to? Could it be that Drake is just talking about his actual life, and your disapproval is not about the music but his actual life? And if that’s the case, lmao, who the hell are you - a stranger - to tell someone else how to live their life. Lmao honestly. This is just so ridiculous

@TheMindOfHY I used to do early judgment on music but I realized the best way is always to let the music age. Some albums I loved initially I found myself not going back to as much while some I wasn't feeling initially ended up staying in my rotation.

Nobody talks about this, but these guys are under high pressure. Their job (and this applies to all who do the same) is to listen, review, and react to music. A music reviewer is not subject to this pressure, but they are subject to how time-bound they are to the attention that people will have to opinions related to the album. They are able to listen to an album several times but if they drop something a month later, nobody's really going to care about it. Which, again, is not a relaxed place to be in when listening to music But many times, for albums that I found myself falling in love with, my first reaction was no reaction. I didn't have an opinion, and there was no outside pressure from an audience that urged me to formulate an opinion. I was just allowed to freely continue listening to a project until I eventually developed an opinion on it, whether it be more towards the negative or the positive. An example of the positive was "The Life of Pablo" by Ye. It was such a chaotic lead-up to the release, so many changes to the album, that after first listen, I just felt like I was in a daze. I felt like I had ducks spinning around my head like a confused Pokémon. But over time, I grew to fall in love with that album, and that would be the album that I would recommend to any person that has never listened to Ye, but wants the full breadth of his sounds in one project. An example of the negative would be Kid Cudi's "Speedin Bullet to Heaven." I was in a state of shock, to say the least, when it came to the initial listen. Kid Cudi had been hyping it up a lot, and whilst some people weren't too happy with Kid Cudi's prior releases, "Satellite Flight" and "Indicud," I had personally enjoyed both. So this came completely out of left field, and it was an attempt at a genre that I very much enjoy. But eventually, after a couple of listens, I settled into my opinion on it, which is that it was terrible.

NFR Podcast react to Drake’s new albums HABIBTI & MAID OF HONOR… “he’s lost his ear for melody. He’s completely lost it. He’s drowning in auto tune for no reason. It was a disaster. Super lazy, unenthusiastic.” thoughts?

I think this will be Drake’s “Thriller” album. This the one that’s taking it to unseen levels of fame for a rapper.
