Gallant Rat 🐭 @MitchellHallMAK

Today marks the close of my tenure as the 91st Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs @Makerere successfully handing over to Jibriel, @kimjibriel the 92nd Minister, and with that, a chapter that has defined some of the most formative years of my life draws to a close not with sorrow, but with deep gratitude. First and above all else, the honour belongs to God. Without God, this journey would have had no foundation upon which to stand. In my first year at @MakerereLaw , I prayed silently for a platform; a platform to stand, to speak, and to fight for the students' cause. By the grace of God, that prayer was answered. We were given that platform, and I believe we used it well. I thank @MitchellHallMAK for entrusting me with the mandate to serve as their 95th GRC to the Guild Council. Our campaign slogan was "Mitchell, First Always" and I am proud to say we lived up to it. In cooperation with 95th SCR of the Hall, the welfare of students at the Hall level have significantly improved, and that progress is a testament to what collective commitment can achieve. I thank the 91st Guild President, @ssentamu_cj for the trust and confidence he placed in me to serve in his Cabinet for the past year. I thank the Office of the Dean, @WinnieKab @rodneyrugyema for the cooperation and responsiveness extended to the Guild Ministry throughout this tenure. I thank the 91st Guild Cabinet for the camaraderie and teamwork that defined our time together. Ours was not a perfect journey, but it was a genuine one. I also extend deep gratitude to the 91st Guild House under the Speakership of our honourable Speaker, @kinkumu we have shared memories, experiences, challenges, and lessons that none of us will forget. Let us carry those lessons forward, not as burdens, but as the very stones upon which a better society will be built. I thank my colleagues and fellow learning friends who offered counsel, challenged my thinking, and reminded me that I was never in this alone. The best leaders are always those who listen more than they speak, and your voices helped sharpen mine. This has been a journey of learning, growth, confidence, skills in timely decision-making, constructive criticism, advocacy, courtesy, and professionalism. These experiences have not merely shaped me, they have prepared me. They have prepared me for the next chapter, as I complete my four years of law school and step into a world that will demand exactly the kind of leader this journey has been forging. Hon. Jibriel, and the 92nd Guild House, student leadership is not glamorous. It will test your patience, your principles, and your perseverance. But if you give it your full self, it will give you back something no classroom can teach, character. And character is what will outlast every title, every position, and every certificate. You are not a minister for the Cabinet alone. You are the Justice Minister to this entire University. Every student who feels wronged will walk through your door. Every student who believes a policy has been used as a weapon against them will look to you. You are the custodian of justice at Makerere, and that custodianship must be seen not just declared in every action you take, every letter you sign, every conversation you hold. Stand for truth, even when it means standing alone. The students of Makerere will remember you not by the office you occupied, but by the courage you demonstrated while in it. Carry this mandate with both hands, and never forget who you serve, the Students body. I urge every student to explore. Strike a balance between your academics and the discovery of your abilities and potential. Leadership, advocacy, entrepreneurship, service these are not distractions from your degree; they are the dimensions that give your degree meaning. But be intentional. Schedule your time wisely. Prioritise your tasks. And above all else, take that degree home in time. For God and My Country.

Proud of my niece @owomugishaMomo - Maureen Owomugisha🎉 First woman to chair @MakerereU Guild Electoral Commission in 100 years! She firmly delivered a credible, peaceful election that saw Gracious Kadondi elected the 92nd Guild President 🇺🇬👏 #Makerere

Current situation in Makerere!!

Good afternoon, Dr. @rodneyrugyema @Makerere We address you directly, because following the cancellation of yesterday's Debate, you personally swore to never again allow physical campaigns and engagements at Makerere University. Today's development therefore comes as no surprise. We have since received an E-signed letter issued on a weekend purportedly from the 92nd Electoral Commission. We note, with concern, that the Chairperson's physical signature is absent. We can only conclude that she was either unavailable, unaware, or otherwise engaged in official duties when this directive was dispatched in her name. The University administration is once again using the Electoral Commission as an instrument to suffocate student democracy. Hiding behind Section 10(b) to further ban physical campaigns is a calculated attempt to suppress student voice and engineer electoral outcomes in favour of preferred candidates. Compelling aspirants to campaign exclusively in virtual spaces under threat of automatic disqualification is a direct violation of the fundamental right to free expression and democratic participation. We remind all concerned that the supreme law of this land supersedes any colonial, dictatorial policy crafted to serve sectional interests. This so-called "Final Warning" does not speak for the Students' Guild. It speaks for University oppressors determined to control who leads our Guild. Students of @Makerere do not be intimidated. Your right to campaign, to vote, and to be heard cannot be extinguished by a 2:00 p.m. deadline. We reject this directive in its entirety! RGB @StoneMakerere @nkrumah_hall @UH_HALL

Why does the tuition threshold for exams fluctuate every semester from 60% to 90% based on administrative whims? We need a permanent policy that allows any student who has cleared 50% of their fees to sit for exams. Education shouldn't be a gamble.
