With Rumba Rapids at Thorpe Park permanently closing, what sort of ride would you like to see replace it? With the success of Wicker Man at Alton Towers back in 2018, I’d love to see a large scale GCI wooden coaster 😍 #thorpepark

@InactiveDigital @ThemeParkWW Merlin are on the defensive and if they think there best option is to get people in to Thorpe who will be travelling to universal anyway it kind of makes sense.

@FlippingSloth @ThemeParkWW Meanwhile Towers, where it should be easier to protect bottom line due to being further away from Universal, has its reputation degraded by poorer and poorer customer experience.

As the entrance turnstiles at Alton Towers now don’t open until 9:30am, queues are backing up on the plaza and all the way back along the coach park. Previously the turnstiles would open at 9am, allowing guests to get into the park earlier and stop the queues backing up!

@InactiveDigital @ThemeParkWW There going to go all in on Thorpe , it’s London bound and closer to universal to try catch the international market that travel in for the new park. They will build 2 more rides before universal opens in 31.

@ThemeParkWW I get them impression that Merlin don't have a 'war chest' to fight Universal. So they are extracting as much money from the park as possible before selling up in the next few years. The park's reputation and customer experience is secondary to that.
