I feel for Ms. Findlay. But I feel more for the hundreds of thousands that don't have a platform. That have no outlet, nobody to step in for them, nobody willing to help. It sucks all around. But Ms. Findlay's story is far more common than most of you can ever comprehend.

Forcing disabled people to “not give up” and push past their limits to be considered worthy is ableist and abusive. Disabilities are disabling. Hope this helps.

The govt got rid of the Sickness Benefit in March 2020, which left cancer sufferers with no safety net. Meanwhile the DSP keeps getting even more difficult to get. This is systemic abuse & it’s killing people. Cancer patients have a high risk of depression & su!cide.

Why does inability to work due to having cancer only provide the social security benefit that is so low it's unliveable, intentionally, as a means to motivate people to find work. That leaves people with cancer at risk of homelessness. The cruelty of our government has no limits.

@clairegcoleman Administrative sadism. It has roots in the Malthusian distinction between the deserving - and not so - poor. The entire idea of 'work for the dole' and accountability for being poor draws on the poorhouse laws. PWD's? Dear god, why are they even alive?

@carlyfindlay I blame the stress of dealing with Centrelink for the death of my father at 63 (heart attack). The amount of hoops he had to jump through was beyond a joke. I hate Centrelink with a passion. I’m so sorry you are going though this hell x

“The people closest to me didn’t understand what I was going through, and after a while didn’t care because I was ‘always sick.’ So I stopped talking about my #chronicillness… The time I needed support the most, I found myself almost completely alone.” buff.ly/3AUqcag

Hospital staff: “Can I use your wheelchair for another patient?” Me: “I’m sorry. I don’t let my chair out of my sight.” Staff: “Are you sure? It’s just for a little while? Me: “I’m sure.” (Staff shakes head and leaves) Don’t ask to borrow a wheelchair user’s wheelchair.

The trouble with having eyes on the side of your head is that sometimes you don't see what's right in front of you until the last minute! Hare, Lincolnshire fens yesterday.

@TracyWesterman The instigators of illegal Robodebt scheme off free, Tourism Australia employees off on a private holiday with $137,144 of Taxpayers money, no investigation by NACC. And yet a woman in Geraldton is going to Court for taking $10 of Sanitary products. We are a very Sick Society.

Bec Wilson's '4 types of modern retirees' don't include those who live in poverty, or those who are homeless. That's because poverty & homelessness don't exist anymore, right?! What you don't count, doesn't count. @janecaro @acoss @lynlinking smh.com.au/money/super-an…
