QUALIFICATION FOR ASIAN CLUB COMPETITIONS AT RISK IF OTHER MALAYSIAN CLUBS DON'T STEP UP TO DELIVER MA POINTS It's always an honour to compete in the AFC Champions League Elite, a feat Johor Darul Ta'zim FC has consistently achieved since 2019, and every match challenges the club to push its boundaries. This is the level we want to be competing at every season, but we're not sure how long Malaysia's member association (MA) ranking can sustain with only JDT contributing majority of the points. We have contributed over 70% of the points but some countries in East Asia are either catching up or pulling away because they have more teams delivering the goods. Singapore and Indonesia have collected more points than Malaysia in the current season with two teams contributing while Thailand and Australia are moving further ahead as their teams are collectively contributing points consistently. JDT collected plenty of points too with qualification to the ACLE Round of 16 but unfortunately, the MA points are totalled and then divided by the number of teams from Malaysia competing in Asia, and that has stifled our MA ranking. We could have been challenging Australia and China for more spots in Asia for Malaysian teams. We need a stronger participation from Malaysia in the AFC Champions League Two to elevate Malaysia's MA ranking.
