2027: No Time for Learning the Ropes — A Governor Ready from Day One
By Akeweje Olayinka Fafoluyi
In the complex theatre of governance, leadership is not a responsibility best learned on the job. It demands experience, foresight, political maturity, and tested competence from the very first day in office. As Kwara State gradually turns its attention toward 2027, the conversation should no longer revolve merely around who desires to lead, but around who possesses the readiness, capacity, and depth of experience to govern effectively without delay.
In that conversation, one name continues to emerge with growing conviction: Saliu Yakubu Danladi.
At a time when governance requires stability, strategic thinking, and proven judgment, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi stands out as a leader who has already passed through the demanding corridors of high-level public service. As Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, he has done far more than occupy office; he has demonstrated leadership, managed competing interests, strengthened institutional cooperation, and sustained legislative stability within a dynamic political environment.
Executive leadership demands more than ambition. It requires a practical understanding of governance, policy implementation, institutional relationships, and the realities of public administration. Through years of legislative leadership, Danladi has acquired a deep and practical grasp of these responsibilities, positioning him as a leader prepared to govern with clarity and direction from day one.
Kwara State cannot afford a period of experimentation. The challenges confronting governance today are too significant, and the expectations of the people too urgent. What the state requires is continuity of competence, purposeful leadership, and administrative preparedness — qualities Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi consistently represents.
Bridging Generations, Building Consensus
One of Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi’s most defining qualities is his ability to connect across political, generational, and social divides. In a diverse and politically conscious state like Kwara, such a quality is not merely an advantage; it is essential.
He embodies a rare combination of youthful energy and political maturity, enabling him to engage both the aspirations of young people and the experience of established stakeholders. His leadership style has consistently reflected inclusiveness, consultation, and consensus-building — qualities indispensable for effective governance in a pluralistic society.
A Record of Stability and Results
Under his leadership, the Kwara State House of Assembly has experienced a period marked by relative stability, cohesion, and productivity. In a political climate often characterized by tension and fragmentation, this achievement deserves recognition.
His ability to maintain unity within the Assembly while ensuring effective legislative output speaks strongly to his administrative capacity and leadership temperament. Governance, ultimately, is measured by results — and Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi has demonstrated an understanding of how institutions can function effectively in service to the people.
Understanding the People, Reflecting Their Needs
Beyond the legislative chambers, Danladi’s connection to grassroots realities remains one of his strongest political assets. Leadership is most impactful when rooted in genuine understanding of the people’s needs, concerns, and aspirations.
His political journey reflects consistent engagement with constituents and stakeholders at the grassroots level. This closeness to the people positions him not merely as a policymaker, but as a responsive leader who listens, understands, and acts with empathy and purpose.
The Case for Preparedness
As 2027 approaches, Kwarans will be confronted with a defining choice: whether to gamble on potential or to invest in proven preparedness.

@mrlurvy @TheoAbuAgada It’s a clear game.
He knew many stakeholders will not agree on AMBA, he wants to deliver SYD by all means.
After clear crash out by senatorial stakeholders, the “No Kwara Central” agenda was upheld, a Kwara North aspirant was agreed, the only standing aspirant was SYD.

Oselu omo wereyyyy
Governor Abdulrazaq has abandoned his earlier anointed candidate, Amb. Yahaya Seriki, after barely 72 hours of handing him the APC governorship ticket.
The Governor has now returned to the Kwara North agenda, throwing his weight behind the Speaker from Kwara North, who has now emerged winner of the APC gubernatorial primaries.
For Amb. Yahaya Seriki, this will remain a painful political episode, a man who briefly held the crown as the ‘One-Time View Candidate,’ only for it to disappear almost immediately.

@RealBushariSMA One thing I want you to know is you see this Asa na BOBO strong base.
E no possible make he get 0 votes.🙂

Newly endorsed aspirant, Salihu Yakubu Danladi takes an early lead on the ongoing APC guber primaries. He defeated the previously endorsed aspirant, Ambassador Yahya Seriki and others.
