The term "theological liberalism" is thrown around a lot. When push comes to shove though, it still boils down to Richard Niebuhr's summation of what theological liberalism truly is: "A God without wrath brought men without sin into a kingdom without judgment through the ministrations of a Christ without a cross" (Kingdom of God in America, 193). Liberal/progressive Christianity is more than that but it is no less than that, and it will always come down to it. Niebuhr's words 89 years ago are just as applicable in 1937 as they are today.

I’ll be happy when… I’ll be content when… I’ll be confident when… I’ll be successful when… This is called destination addiction. You’ll be waiting for conditions to be “perfect” forever. That’s a life of frustration!

Joel speaks of the cutting locust, the first stage of devastation. These insects strip away the tender beginnings, destroying shoots before they ever grow strong. Many of us know this loss. Dreams aborted. Starts that never had a chance. Joy in early obedience was suddenly crushed. Yet God promises to restore even these years. Where the cutting locust robbed your beginnings, the Lord replants. He gives grace to start again, not with shame, but with hope. He restores momentum, courage, and the confidence to begin afresh in Him.

You won’t always feel ready. You won’t always feel inspired. Do it anyway. Progress starts where excuses end!

Don't underestimate the importance of spending time with good people. Surround yourself with those who encourage you to dream big, give your best, and enjoy life to the fullest!

Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better!

It's your discipline that shapes your future, not just your dreams. Dreams are free but the cost is bringing them to fruition!
