The cause for the downward spiral in the general quality of how artists run their business can actually be directly connected to the gradual shift the Vtubing scene had over how they are treated. Artists went from [Someone who provides a service] to [Someone you owe everything to] and that was possibly the worst thing that happened to the industry. This notion and attitude clearly went to their head and is exactly what is resposible for the atrocious business practices they're allowed to get away with and directly responsible for the ludicrous prices that became the norm. It changed a mutually beneficial relationship into one that looks more like parasitism now. It must be noted that this stupid attitude shift was pushed entirely by big Vtubers with more money than braincells and a bunch of succesful artists who wanted the excuse to charge more. And it very evidently worked and is maintain by what can basically be summed up as banal psyops to keep it going.

It is frustrating to see how more and more common such things have become. Practically anyone who works in the Vtubing scene has such a story about a project that had to be delayed because the person they commissioned just couldn't be arsed to deliver it on time. It's also infuriating that the treatment you will receive is based solely on how popular you are. I once tried to commission someone and was put on the waiting list. According to that person, they would get to me within 2 months and I was 9th in line and I agreed to wait. They got back to me after 11 months and 18 other more popular and thus, more worthy and important clients. By that point, I didn't need anything anymore because the ship had already sailed. They still had the audacity to passively-aggressively thank me for wasting their time. If there is any reason why AI is on the rise, it's this. Not because it's free, but because the alternative is a circus of missed delivery dates, flimsy excuses, exhausting attitudes and sheer mindboggling unprofessionalism. I've said before that if artists don't want to end up flipping burgers for a living they need to get their act together, stop chasing clout over everything else and learn how to run their businesses properly and drop that holier than thou attitudes that so many of them have that give a bad name to the entire industry.

My rigger vanished and took everyone's money with them My 3.0 artist ghosted me before work started The person in charge of BGM keeps stringing me along with "next month, next month" to start work The person in charge of the key art for a drop also vanished Just 4 of the many projects that I can't complete. I'm at my wits end with finding reliable people to put my trust in. Everyone wants the creator to be understanding, patient, nice and give leeway, but how much more does my time and patience need to be trampled upon before I hit my limit? Years of projects that end up abandoned, incomplete and just a sour taste in my mouth. I promised my community so many cool things and I've been trying for 2 years to honor my promises and I'm exhausted. I feel like I'm letting everyone down. But I genuinely cannot keep going or trying, I have had so many bad experiences with people in this industry. I also love how I'm being blamed for not making contracts. Yet majority of people refuse to sign one or reveal their identity to people. This industry is rotten. I wish I knew how people vet others before involving them in projects. But from my experience, even well known artists end up disappointing (see neon's case). The people I hired for the job were people with years of experience in the industry, known for working with corporations, meeting deadlines, with people vouching for them and their work and recommending them. I haven't really been streaming or creating YT content because my mental is at an all time low. I was so excited for my lore video, for the 3.0, for the future. Now I'm just sad and tired. I'll try and find a way to honor my promises to you breadpups, I just sadly need more time. I'm sorry.
