@BeaneaterB @daltine_cracker Come on. You're acting like he drafted his own son and gave BJ Upton the worst contract in franchise history.

Bobby Cox not liking Frank Wren and almost quitting in 2008(he actually said he did quit but Schuerholz talked him out of it) is really interesting to me. I never knew that

@TristansTrash @KasperStats bro pays for premium twitter so that he can fit even more straw man nonsense into a single tweet. “stat morons” understand the nuance and that selling out for power can negatively effect a player’s performance. that’s not the argument here though. it’s literally just HR vs 1B lol

Doesn’t change the definition of it dumbass. Stat morons only care about probability and never about how to apply it functionally. The entirety of baseball twitter feels some sort of childish tick that makes it 100% necessary to dunk on anyone that possibly suggests that hitting the ball and not always selling out for home runs could be beneficial. I say NPCs because it’s a bunch of mindless people coming to the elementary school conclusion that home runs are better than singles (which you can understand at like 5 years old) and failing to remember that a high average hitter is more likely to be consistent than a power hitter and that power hitters decline when facing better pitchers especially in the postseason It’s why everyone is always like “the Yankees were witerally the best offense in baseball in 2025” without understanding that it was mainly due to their all or nothing power hitters crushing shit pitching against the Nationals and White Sox while shitting the bed against the good teams. You can not tell me that a team’s overreliance on power would not resemble Goodhart’s Law (same could be said for an all-contact team like the 2024 Guardians, but talking heads and stat guys love to soyface over power numbers)

Luis Arraez: .292 AVG, 21 K, but a .713 OPS, 66 runs, 61 RBI Eugenio Suarez: .228 AVG, 196 K, but an .824 OPS, 91 runs, 118 RBI Trading average in favor of power can get you some pretty big returns! (And you can strike out almost 200 times and still be a productive hitter!)
Alex52@Alexe525

@KasperStats @Nyanasaur If a player hits .270 with 30 homers and another guy hits .280with 15, fine. There is no planet where a .228 hitter is more productive than a .292 hitter.

@TristansTrash @KasperStats calling everyone NPCs and then sharing an AI summary of goodhart’s law in response to an argument of home runs vs singles is very very funny

@KasperStats It would be nice if all the NPCs replying to this post who think “home runs are actually more better🤓” is some sort of profound statement could understand the concept of Goodhart’s Law:

@Jojothebboy @BANPUFA @ax_of_ganto @JoshRainerGold I’m not a bleeding heart about processed foods or anything but they’re also pretty much designed to not curb hunger. On top of the overall nutritional profile, fruit will simply make you more full than the equivalent amount of calories in a little debbie.

@BANPUFA @ax_of_ganto @JoshRainerGold The issue is that foods with refined sugars are usually calorie dense and low in micronutrients. You could eat one cookie vs a pound of watermelon and get the same calories, probably more sugar from the watermelon, but more micronutrients and fiber from the watermelon as well

@wonderdummy @davelowitzki @shegone03 yeah I just hate when the dude is like “did YOU play in the big leagues 😏” when there are better players that disagree with him. he’s a moron that’s failed at pretty much everything he’s done post-baseball and is upset “nerds” are succeeding in a field he could never break into

@goopieguy @davelowitzki @shegone03 I would actually give him a little more credit than that. He is a whiny-ass twat these days, but at least he had a respectable on-base percentage. A well-below average MLB player, but we'd all be more than happy to be the Scalabrini of baseball.

@dawgsfan2 @Braves I don’t disagree that kranitz is fantastic and we would have been perfectly fine with him. I view it as a fairly lateral move though and I guess the FO wants younger and more analytical coaches to pair with Weiss.

@FalloutVault76 @Braves The past 5 World Series winners by team ERA Dodgers - 3.95 Dodgers - 3.92 Rangers - 4.28 Astros - 2.90 Braves - 3.89 The Astros are the only team here that wasn’t high-3s or low-4s. Hell, the Rangers were a whole quarter run worse than the Mets and won. Braindead take buddy.

@RB4444 @CPIZZAIA @shegone03 preaching to a wall. Frye reply guys are dudes who played one year of jv baseball and miss shoving nerds into lockers. the mediocre former player being a dick to anyone that uses “analytics” gives them someone to live vicariously through and faintly feel that rush again. #shegone
