I agree with you that true leadership forgives and redeems its own. I mean, if not for the forgiving spirit of the Chief of Staff, he could have easily thrown the baby away with the bathwater. After 12 years in office, with only a handful of projects that are gradually fading from public memory, I personally believe Surulere deserves a new stewardship. Twelve years is more than enough time to steer a constituency towards meaningful progress, empowerment, and sustainable development. At this point, Surulere needs fresh ideas, people oriented policies, and a renewed sense of direction to truly move the constituency forward. Now, let me dive into Desmond Elliot’s political intrigues, theatrics and the internal power play that allegedly almost got his divine helper removed from office. Leadership should be built on loyalty, sincerity, transparency, and service not manipulation, deception, and self preservation at the expense of those who once stood firmly behind you. Politics may be brutal, but nothing weakens public trust faster than a leader who forgets the very people and structures that helped him rise. Many stakeholders in Surulere are no longer asking for noise or drama, this is not Nollywood, the people are asking for accountability, visible impact, and a leadership style that genuinely reflects the hopes of the people. Twelve years is not twelve months. If tangible transformation is still being debated after over a decade in office, then perhaps it is time for a new chapter.
