SOMEONE JUST KILLED EVERY SKETCHY VIDEO DOWNLOADER SITE ON THE INTERNET.
It's called ReClip. Self-hosted. Open source. Free.
Paste a link from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter/X, or 1000+ other sites. Download as MP4 or MP3. That's it.
No ads. No popups. No trackers. No rate limits. No account. No sketchy installer.
Your machine. Your downloads. Your data.
Here is the full feature set:
-> 1000+ supported sites including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter/X
-> MP4 or MP3 output, your choice
-> Resolution selector before you download
-> Batch download. Paste multiple links at once.
-> Clean web UI that runs in any browser
-> Lightweight self-hosted setup
It went from 0 to 1.4K GitHub stars in 9 days.
239 forks already.
Here is why that number matters:
Every person who found a janky ad-covered downloader site in the last 10 years was waiting for this. A clean, private, self-hosted alternative that just works.
No business model built on your data. No premium tier. No upsells.
Built in HTML. MIT License. Two contributors. Ships in days.
100% Open Source. Free forever.

@platin_one Love how confidently wrong this is. It's two separate Docker services : a web app with its own UI and a Telegram bot that calls its API. But hey, why read a docker-compose.yml when you can just make stuff up for engagement?

We are reaching levels of slop that should not be possible. Bro created a slop wrapper for another slop wrapper. He literally is starting an http server that he calls himself to forward commands to a cli tool

@hadriengayap @socialwithaayan Can't find it on Telegram!

🚨 Stop using random websites to download videos.
Use this instead. ReClip is a clean web UI built on yt-dlp and ffmpeg that downloads from 1000+ platforms as MP4 or MP3, runs entirely on your own server, and starts with a single shell script or one Docker command at localhost:8899.
Bulk paste mode accepts any number of URLs at once, automatically strips duplicates, shows thumbnails and quality options before anything downloads, and lets you grab everything with one click.
→ 150 lines of Flask on the backend and a single vanilla HTML file on the frontend
→ Works with YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Pinterest, and more
→ Quality picker shows all available resolutions before you commit to the download
MIT License. 100% Opensource.

Someone just killed every shady video downloader site overnight.
Meet ReClip.
Paste link → Download MP4/MP3 → Done.
No ads. No popups. No tracking. No BS.
Just your machine, your data, your control.
1000+ sites supported.
Batch downloads. Clean UI. Self-hosted.
→ 1.4K GitHub stars in 9 days
→ 239 forks
The internet waited 10 years for this.

@MartianSurveyor @ylecun @polynoamial @thomaspower @OpenAI But what he has been explaining for months is quite simple: if the process of obtaining your final product, regardless of the level of innovation, is not accessible to all according to scientific rules (scientific paper…), your company does everything except research.
English

I'm not criticizing your impact on the industry. You are an interesting guy which is why I follow you on here.
My point is that there are all sorts of reasons why a company may not want to share their research and make it public. It is a needlessly narrow definition of the word to say it must adhere to the FAIR standard to count as research.
English

Those of us at @OpenAI working on o1/🍓 find it strange to hear outsiders claim that OpenAI has deprioritized research. I promise you all, it's the opposite.

@hadriengayap @fchollet @basedneoleo @breenemachine @mikeknoop @NewYorker Yes, it's small, because the part of the genome that concerns the brain is small.
The whole genome is only 800MB (uncompressed).

It's very interesting to read you.
Do you consider the amount of information acquired over the millennia and passed on naturally to a newborn?
English

> Keep in mind that the first thing the brain learns to do is to compress its sensorimotor feed,
That's incorrect. There are about 50x time pyramidal cells in V1 for every optic nerve fiber coming into V1.
That's a 50x *expansion*, not compression.
All high-performance ConvNet architectures also expand the dimension of the representation in the first stages.
Why?
Because to extract useful information from compressed and dense representations is much more difficult than from higher-dimension, sparser representations.
Compression is too much of an ambiguous term to usefully describe what the brain does with sensory data. You have to describe exactly how compression takes place.

@edithbrou Pour l’instant on a pas de solides benchmark pour comparer les différents LLM, mais les expériences user d’un grand nombre peut donner une idée claire de la performance des LLMs.

Absolutely -- there will be a 3rd edition of the book and it will work with TF, JAX, and PyTorch.
