@peterpme It’s going to be more expensive 10x the price you’re paying for.
Check MAC instance pricing on AWS and you’ll understand.
I don’t see any reason not running simulator locally where it’s cheaper and efficient

Quick question for the devs & automation folks 👇
What’s the best Mac mini config right now for heavy browser automation + occasional local LLMs?
Loving the always-on dedicated minis over laptops (no throttling, 24/7 uptime). Drop your RAM/CPU/storage combo below!

@enginoid Thanks Fred! Always good to hear from someone in the AI/ML space. Give us a shout if you ever need a box to throw models at.

Apple has brought forward M4 Mac mini delivery dates to June, according to their UK website.
The AI and developer demand surge continues to outpace supply with many configs still showing multi-week waits.
If you’re in need of immediate access, we have dedicated UK-hosted M-series rentals that are available now

Honest answer: no RDP style USB redirection on macOS. MIDI controllers work great via rtpMIDI which is built into macOS. Audio I/O is the hard part: VirtualHere does USB over IP but realtime is hit and miss, Dante Virtual Soundcard is more reliable but takes setup. Mixing and editing without local I/O works well.
English

@halfpennymac What about port emulation and device redirection for local devices?
English

@PhlegmFight Yes, DAWs run great on Apple silicon. Mixing, editing, and bouncing work well over remote desktop. Live recording with real-time monitoring is trickier due to network latency, but if you’re doing production work rather than live performance it’s solid.

We’re really for people who want a Mac they can SSH into and forget about. Managed updates, monitoring, snapshots, Tailscale. Great for short-term use like you say, and there are significant discounts for longer commitments. Cheaper than MacStadium and UK-based so lower latency for anyone this side of the Atlantic

@halfpennymac Was intrigued so clicked on it. How can you charge £39/month for a 2020 base-tier Mac Mini M1 😂
I bought a used one from a shop for £180 recently and I own it indefinitely. I don’t see who this is aimed at, unless you need semi-specialist systems short-term and are lazy…

MacBooks look tempting for Mac workloads… until you need sustained performance.
Thermal throttling + battery limits kill long builds and AI inference.
Dedicated Mac minis just sit there and go brrr (silently) 24/7, full power, proper cooling.
That’s why we do minis. Mac mini all the way.
Thoughts? 👇

@Anaya_sharma876 We looked very briefly at offering MacBooks but heating and battery meant even though it’s the same chip then they cant sustain peak performance for as long

@kaaaash____ We’re seeing more people have their own Mac mini on the cloud.

Quick midweek update from the Mac farm 👋
Apple’s Mac mini supply is still tight with demand for the latest models is outpacing production. Tim Cook is saying it could take several months to catch up.
This is a sign that a lot of devs and teams are pushing hard on AI, builds, and local workloads right now.
