Article I, Section 27 of our Commonwealth’s Constitution states that every Pennsylvanian has a right to clean air and pure water.   This commonsense step from the @EPA will help us combat climate change and safeguard that right for ourselves and our children.

We're taking climate action with a final rule that will sharply reduce emissions of methane and other harmful air pollution from the oil and natural gas industry. epa.gov/newsreleases/b…

For over 35 years I have had the honor of leading Clean Air Council. I'm beyond grateful for my dedicated staff and leave the organization in their capable hands. I look forward to keeping up the fight against polluters in a new capacity. Thank you all.

My new op-ed highlights the landmark report from @climatecosts detailing the cost climate change will have on municipalities across Pennsylvania. The report estimates that municipal governments across the state are staring at a $15 billion bill by 2040. Polluters must pay!

It is critical that we hold the fossil fuel industry accountable for the costs of climate change. Please read @climatecosts's new study to learn more about the costs of climate pollution in PA: climateintegrity.org/uploads/media/…
Clean Air Council@CleanAirCouncil

@climatecosts Fossil fuel companies have known about these impacts of climate change for decades and gaslight the American public with their PR campaigns downplaying the climate crisis. They caused the problem, they must pay to clean it up. Anything less is unacceptable.

@climatecosts Brittany Reno, mayor of Sharpsburg, says climate change is a public safety nightmare that they're starting to deal with daily. Sharpsburg is prone to lots of flooding and landsliding since it sits in a bowl in the Allegheny Valley.

@climatecosts Paul Chinowsky is going more into detail about the study. The study was done from an engineers perspective. The study answers "What is it going to take to protect us?" to survive in the environment tomorrow.

@climatecosts The study also opens the question of who should pay? who should pay this cost? We're talking about major costs, 10s of billions of dollars, and will see major strains on budgets. Should taxpayers be forced to pay or the polluters who caused the problem pay for their actions?

@climatecosts @climatecosts conducted a poll across the state asking who should pay for the cost and it found that 90% of Pennsylvania's say that polluters should pay a portion of those costs

@climatecosts Dr. Monica Taylor, Delaware Co., says that climate change is our reality and its effects can be immediate and dramatic, but its impacts can not always be seen especially with the cost on local governments and municipalities.

@climatecosts But ultimately, it is the taxpayer that will feel the cost. The report confirms that there will be staggering cost on taxpayers. The highest cost we face in the next 10 years will be increasing our storm drain capacity across Pennsylvania to prevent flooding.
