@hintswen yeah i went world specific as it's for my homeworld, making it mobile was never the intention. Nya LLC who gave me access to their API so that i do not have to go trough the headache of making a full media provider do however have urls you can just copy paste in!

Hi, i'm alive! Spent the last two days absolutely locked in to the point i didn't even check non-work DMs, sorry.. Anyway, fuck p*pcorn, i have my own media library in my homeworld now! The lovely team from nya llc gave me access to their VRC API so that i can poke around and i did just that: First step was obviously taking apart their API, solid one btw if you need only basic media data! Only Movie names + basic meta data was obviously not enough for me, so i wrote my own resolver to sit between their API and mine. My resolver does a lot of heavy lifting! * cross world favorites / bookmarks * media covers * subtitles Works like a charm so far, gonna do some more in depth work on it though to make it faster as it dynamically fetches, compresses and encodes the covers for downloading via string together with the media name and other meta-data! We store the covers and subtitles on the server-side so that the next one searching for that media does not have to wait for our cover generation to complete. On the world side i then split up the string into meta-data and covers. Covers get reconstructed into an image based on things i learned from @Vowgan`s image batcher and the UI gets built dynamically to display all the covers, meta data and similar things like rating from TMDB! When you hit play many things happen. I fetch the media from Nya's API, fetch the subtitles and convert the subtitles string into actually usable subtitles. Finally, the media starts playing lol. Next thing i wanna do is a more user friendly UI and i will give my research to Nya too soon, so they can see if / what they want to use for their own api. NGL quite proud of this little sidequest lmao And the best part? Nothing stored in the world, so no fear of my homeworld getting taken down :p Realisticly i could even load your private media library if i write my own media provider!

@itsVeeVR That requires using a world specifically setup for it though right? Whereas my solution involves just a regular url I can put in any video player in any world.

@hintswen i have the same approach but dynamically so that i do not even have to type in a url! if i look up a movie it grabs a free slot and tells me which, then my play button just calls the url for that slot

This was done via a method where the scammer invites you to a Minecraft server over Discord, and sends you a (malicious) package to install via Curseforge. They will go as far to dig through your friends list to tell you people that are playing too, to draw you in. Be careful!

@veryultraviolet On one hand they probably didn't ask for it to be zipped, on the other hand I assume you uploaded it via some online portal that accepts zip files. If the system accepts it then I'd assume it would be fine. Considering you had multiple files to submit I understand zipping it.

@Goetsch_Gu @Nick_Marseil I think cost would be the best answer to why not both. I game on PC because I spend money on one good piece of hardware rather than buying a lower end PC and a console. There are things I use my PC for that benefit from having all that extra power there even if I'm not gaming.

@Nick_Marseil I prefer playing on PC for its flexibility, but I don’t get why people argue over consoles vs. PCs. Why not both? Steam handles this well, you can play your PC games in the living room on a Steam Machine without buying them twice.

I love that PC fanboys keep claiming Consoles are dead, while Valve keeps trying to become one.

On about 3km by 2km of farmland, you could run about 500 cows, or, as in this case, build a solar farm that will power more than 100,000 homes. A local third-generation farming family chose the latter.
