๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ Frame 1 table captures the complete set of regular-season matches in the 2026 #UgandaRugby Menโ€™s Premiership Frame 2 is the table standings. Hippos endured its worst ever season, reflecting our transition issues. Three walkovers by the bottom 2 clubs, over logistical challenges, but the volume of competitive matches between the top 4, mid 4 indicates a healthy & exciting Premiership campaign.

Thx for the highlights. #UgandaRugby Still unsure whether Buffaloesโ€™ last try was properly grounded - nothing against the ref, just looking for clarity. Also, this pitch needs a break. Need to avoid overcrowding it with fixtures or hosting back-2-back 7s legs in the rains again

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ Eagles vs Storm This is the fixture quietly everyone inside #UgandaRugby is circling. It feels like the Core Status Qualifiers have opened with a โ€˜finalโ€™ or a Premiership match hiding in lower-tier clothing. Both teams arrive carrying serious weight. @RfcEagles were relegated from the Premiership, but they never looked like a club willing to stay down for long. They fought through @UgCentralrugby competition with WINS ONLY. Then there is @Storm_rfc_ug The new name. The new badge. But not exactly a new team. Storm are widely viewed as an extension of the rugby revolution that shook Ugandan club rugby over the last two seasons. Much of their core is linked to the former Hippos structure that disrupted the traditional power order and pushed deep into top-flight contention.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ Core Status Qualifiers rugby has a brutal beauty to it. No safety nets. No second chances. Just one single round robin where clubs either announce themselves to #UgandaRugbyโ€ฆ or disappear back into the regional shadows. And that is exactly what makes @CityFalconsRFC vs @CrowsRfc such dangerous opening fixtures. Last year, Gulu City Falcons smashed KIU Crows 31-07 in this exact competition. A statement win. But a year later, the picture feels different. KIU Crows are no longer outsiders trying to survive the occasion. They arrive as back-to-back @WesternUgRugby champions after an unbeaten regional campaign filled with structure & attacking firepower.

๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡ฐ Japanโ€™s โ€˜Aโ€™ side crushed Hong Kong China Select 80-0 in their first warm-up match The gap was expected. Japan are Asiaโ€™s long-established rugby powerhouse, while Hong Kong China have only just earned their first-ever #RWC2027 spot ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ It mirrors the upcoming Zimbabwe vs South Africa โ€˜Aโ€™ fixture. The Sables are fresh off ending a 36-year RWC absence, but facing SA โ€˜Aโ€™ will be a major reality check against a far deeper system. These fixtures are less about the scoreline and more about exposure. They show the difference between a continentโ€™s established giant and its rising challenger

Well said, but letโ€™s add some nuance. Trailing 12-23 in the first leg at home (after a 24-34 regular season loss to KOBs) - Impisโ€™ comeback was genuinely impressive, especially for a side freshly promoted back to the Premiership. The surprise is understandable but most rugby fans in Uganda are actually happy for them - fresh blood and underdog stories are always dope ๐Ÿ˜‚ On the Enterprise Cup - The 5 Ugandan rep for next year arenโ€™t automatically the Premiership playoff teams. Like last year, Ugandaโ€™s slots have been determined via the Uganda Cup tournament rather than this Premiership.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ 2026 #UgandaRugby Premiership Playoffs Quarterfinal battles @piratesrugbyUG were clinical, blowing past @WalukubaRugbyUg with a crushing 76โ€“6 aggregate win, including a clean-sheet 2nd leg. @HeathensRFC survived the tightest grind of all ties, scraping through @victoria_sharks with back-to-back nail-biters and edging it by just 7 points on aggregate. @ImpisRFC produced the comeback of the round. After trailing @KobsrugbyUg by 11 points, they detonated in Round 2 with a dominant win to flip the tie and progress by 9 points, powered by a statement performance and Pius Mpozaโ€™s milestone MVP outing. @BuffaloesRFC kept things tense but steady, seeing off @Mongersrugby by 4 points on aggregate after a โ€œdrawโ€ in the return leg and a narrow first-leg win. Semifinal picture Pirates vs Hippos: the heavyweight clash everyone circled early. Impis vs Buffaloes: the wildcard semi. Impis arrive riding momentum, Buffaloes arrive carrying grind-heavy survival instincts.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ XVs Core Status Qualifiers 2026 #UgandaRugby The โ€œquietly everyoneโ€™s watching this oneโ€ fixture lived up to every ounce of tension. What looked on paper like a heavyweight collision between @RfcEagles and @Storm_rfc_ug became a full 80-minute tug-of-war, ending 20-20. No winner. No loser. Just two sides leaving Kitante with their jerseys unbeaten this whole year. Meanwhile in Gulu, the script flipped completely. A year ago, @CityFalconsRFC hammered @CrowsRfc 31-07 in this same competition. This time? KIU arrived with sharper claws and stole a massive 15-13 away victory. Revenge served cold at Negri College Grounds. The table after Matchday 1 already has that delicious playoff chaos brewing: 1. KIU Crows โ€“ 4 pts (+2) 2. Eagles โ€“ 2 pts (0) 3. Storm โ€“ 2 pts (0) 4. Gulu City Falcons โ€“ 1 pt (-2) KIU are the only side walking out of Round 1 with a full victory Eagles and Storm cancelling each other out may haunt one of them later. In short tournaments, drawn games behave like tiny thieves. You only notice the damage near the finish line. And now the pressure cooker shifts to 30th May KIU vs Eagles suddenly feels enormous. A KIU win could create daylight at the top. An Eagles win blows the standings wide open again. Storm showed enough quality to trouble anyone, while Gulu now enter desperation territory. Lose again, and the road to promotion starts disappearing into fog.

This match suddenly became bigger than just a #UgandaRugby QF. Itโ€™s now a reopening. A return. After nearly a year of uncertainty amidst several stories. The sport felt like it had lost part of its soul. And now, fittingly, it comes back with KOBS vs Impis. That matters. Because Kampala Rugby Grounds is not just grass and posts. It is one of the emotional homes of Ugandan rugby. Generations of players, fans, musicians, students and weekend believers built memories there. KOBS especially are deeply tied to that ground historically, even during the uncertainty around ownership and venue access. So the atmosphere on Saturday should feel different. Not normal league-rugby different. Ceremonial different. The old heads will walk in remembering what the place used to be. The younger fans will treat it like the rebirth of a rugby landmark. And the players will absolutely feel that energy. That is why this fixture becomes dangerous for Impis.

๐Ÿ“Œ ๐Ÿ“Œ Impis thrive in moments like this. They are younger, louder and far less weighed down by history. They enjoy playing the villain in hostile environments. If they start fast and frustrate KOBS early, the mood could quickly shift from celebration to malaria.

On paper, KOBS are favourites. History, depth, experience and the 23-12 first-leg result all point their way. But knockout rugby in #UgandaRugby rarely follows logic. Impis thrive in moments like this. They are younger, louder and far less weighed down by history. They enjoy playing the villain in hostile environments. If they start fast and frustrate KOBS early, the mood could quickly shift from celebration to malaria. @KobsrugbyUg will want control, territory and structure. @ImpisRFC will want pace and disruption. The first 20 minutes could decide everything.
