On July 1, 1956, Elvis Presley appeared on The Steve Allen Show. To calm down the massive national controversy surrounding his wild dancing, the host dressed Elvis in a tuxedo and had him sing Hound Dog to a basset hound wearing a top hat. While the dog, named Sherlock, looked completely unbothered, the stunt gave the network a massive ratings win. Elvis famously later called it one of his most embarrassing moments on a stage! My nuanced Harrison take: It was reasonable to believe, and remains so, that Early and Tolle will be better MLB starters than Harrison. He’s been better this year so far. The problem: asset management. Trading Harrison for an actual power bat was the move. That’s what stings.
