Honestly didn’t think I’d be this sad over destiny’s end. I haven’t played since like a year ago, and it still is just such a sad feeling. I guess I just always had hope I’d be able to come back to the game as good as it once was. It must have been in my subconscious, deep down.

When d1 ended, we had an idea that d2 would come because of the obvious success of the previous like, 4 years. There’s been so many blunders not only in D2’s life cycle but also just focused in the last two years that, genuinely there isn’t any concrete feeling of what’s to come.

While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. @formerlypork @LowmanLegend It’s so wild that this feels so bleak, when d1 ended there wasn’t a d2 announcement but we kinda knew, d1 just felt so much like it beckoned for a sequel and a good one at that. With so many blunders in its final years, it genuinely feels like this could just be over…

Genuinely so unbelievable what happened to the game in EOF I log on sometimes thinking it was a dream and am shocked again when I see the portal. Genuinely so jarring, haven’t even built muscle memory for it either it’s like I’m in a bad dream waiting for it to go away
