@NeilForPoole The creation of BCP was never about the people of this area, tho the hollowing out of local democracy has been going on for years. Have sympathy. But what else can councils do given the financial climate?
English

Local residents already feel that the BCP project has let them down. Selling off this symbol of civic pride is probably the last nail in the coffin. It’s an act of public vandalism.

The real magic of Oasis? They made a better kind of Britain seem briefly possible | Alex Niven #Echobox=1725014622" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

@chakrabortty Funny but a bit ott. Right about the narrowing of what it could mean to be w/class. Oasis were really important in mid-90s when I was a kid, but it went down hill thereafter. Niven’s book on DM is a v good summary of that moment.

In memory.

The Coventry community will not allow far-right rioters to hold sway over our city. The Nazi's blitzed us for 3 days during WW2, and we won't allow anymore of their ilk to damage it again today! Coventry is a multicultural city and proud! #PUSB @coventrycc @Coventry_City

In 1981 The Specials (an iconic band who supported anti-racism) helped to organize a concert at the Butts stadium in #Coventry Rock against Racism
The concert was held due to the brutal murders of 2 Asian men.
It is 2024 now, how is unrest still happening?

“Here, from Cormac Russell and John McKnight, is a book of empowering wisdom that provides a compelling alternative to the disempowering foolishness of dominant culture. This book is “revelatory” in that it reveals, right before our eyes, available resources for community wellbeing that have been kept hidden behind a facade of technology and the busyness of market ideology. These hidden resources—now made stunningly visible—are marked by shared generosity, surprising abundance, and a refusal to accept the isolation and alienation imposed “from above.” This book is an invitation, an empowerment, and a source of hope. All that it requires from the reader is an engaged response and a readiness to connect!”
