This sounds too good to be true…and i hope everyone’s learned to not take such claims at face value
The only (almost) correct number is the monthly revenue.
1. It’s not a GPT wrapper, they have their own model. App is 8 years old, long before GPT models had vision capabilities.
2. They’re not doing organic TikTok at scale, 70% of their revenue is from paid ads. (Source: data . ai)
It’s developed by a Chinese company with 400 people and a massive budget…
I built one of the first AI plant ID apps back in 2017.
It was a great niche when there were just a few apps competing, fb ads were cheap, the app was printing money for a few years.
But in May of ‘26 it’s one of the most competitive ones in the App Store. Hundreds of apps that are basically the same, competing for the same keywords and audience.
It could be a fun learning project for someone who’s just starting out. But making money with one is not a beginner’s game.

This app does $9,000,000/mo for a simple plant scanner 😭 It's literally just a GPT wrapper with extra facts 💀 But their marketing is insane. It could actually be a significant problem that Europe doesn't have enough garages. This sounds like a joke, but I'm serious. Garages let you work on stuff that doesn't matter yet, which is how big things often start. The outliers of ideas need the outliers of space.

Finally some progress on this. Opus 4.7 seemed to mitigate some of the issues, but apparently the main cause was in the harness.

the latest version of opus 4.6 seriously feels like I'm back to sonnet 3.7 simple stuff like not overwriting vars shouldn't require an extra prompt...especially not on a Pro subscription... come on @claudeai @bcherny x.com/bridgemindai/s…

BigTech will eventually come for all apps / startups / companies because they can fill the niches now that before could not because they were too small
Those niches is where entrepeneurs hung out, nice parts of the market people could build a little SaaS with $100K/y to even $100M/y, notjing like the $100B/y revenue BigTech was doing, but worth it
With AI now BigTech can fill those niches + they are the ones training and owning the best models, and keeping the best models for themselves they can outcompete anyone who doesn't own them (everyone except other BigTech)
End game for their survival is simply trying to take every business, it's just capitalism
This completely changes the prospect for entrepreneurs as there won't be much left, because BigTech is financially incentivized to have to take everything
Because if they don't, their competitor will!

CLAUDE OPUS 4.6 IS NERFED. BridgeBench just proved it. Last week Claude Opus 4.6 ranked #2 on the Hallucination benchmark with an accuracy of 83.3%. Today Claude Opus 4.6 was retested and it fell to #10 on the leaderboard with an accuracy of only 68.3%. A 98% increase in hallucination. bridgebench.ai just confirmed that Claude Opus 4.6 has reduced reasoning levels and is nerfed.

Congrats, man! My firstborn will be 2 months in a few days.
It is the most exciting and fulfilling feeling, while being one of the most tiresome experiences in my life.

On work: I thought it would take us two weeks before I could get back to work. I ended up taking about a month off work. Now at month 2 I am able to work for a few hours a day.
