@TajinderBagga @AkasaAir @agoda And booking cheap from Agoda is fine? Instead of ranting, Pls learn from your mistakes, everyone here is to make money. Did Agoda charge the cancellation fee out of the blue? You should have read the cancellation policy before booking.

Booked an @AkasaAir ticket via @agoda and accidentally selected Navi Mumbai instead of Mumbai. Tried cancelling via Agoda - they showed a cancellation fee of ₹4,764 and refund of just ₹1,571. Then I checked directly with Akasa Air. Akasa Air’s own cancellation page shows: • Total deduction: ₹299 • Refund amount: ₹6,076 Akasa customer care also confirmed the airline cancellation charge is only ₹299, and since the booking was made through Agoda, the refund would go back to Agoda. So the obvious question: If the airline is deducting only ₹299, why is Agoda charging me ₹4,764? That’s an extra ₹4,465 for what exactly? Charging 15x the airline’s actual cancellation fee for the same ticket feels completely unethical. @agodaindia please explain this loot. @AkasaAir passengers deserve transparency from booking partners. @jagograhakjago @MoCA_GoI

Petrol and diesel up ₹3/litre. Everyone's talking about the price. Nobody's asking the better question — why did it stay frozen for 14 months when crude was volatile? Because we refine 254 MT/year domestically. Fifth largest refining capacity on the planet. That cushion bought the government 14 months of price stability that most oil-importing countries couldn't manage. The hike isn't the story. The delay was.

Let's guess... What would have been the petrol price if @INCIndia was in power in these troubled global scenarios?? My guess is Rs 150-165 per litre (avg in all metro cities). Your guesses.... #FuelRates

India spends lakhs of crores in foreign exchange to import many products from abroad. At the same time, the prices of imported goods are soaring and global supply chains have also been severely disrupted. Just as every drop fills a pot, every small and big effort matters. We must reduce the use of products that come from abroad and avoid unnecessary dependence on imported goods in our daily lives. - PM @narendramodi

Details: PM Modi has made 5 important requests to the country. This is not a panic message. This is a national discipline message. India spends a huge amount of foreign exchange on imports. Crude oil alone costs India around $134.7 billion. Gold costs around $72 billion. Vegetable oil costs around $19.5 billion. Fertilisers cost around $14.5 billion. Together, these 4 categories add up to nearly $240.7 billion, which is around 31% of India’s total import bill. That is why PM Modi has asked people to use petrol and diesel carefully, travel by metro or public transport, send parcels by rail, postpone non essential gold buying for one year, reduce cooking oil use, reduce chemical fertiliser dependence, promote natural farming, and avoid unnecessary foreign travel. He also gave the example of Covid time Work From Home because during Covid, India learned that many meetings, office tasks and discussions can happen online. If even some people reduce daily travel, India can save fuel, reduce pressure on imports and conserve foreign exchange. This is not about fear. This is about responsibility. When global situations become unstable, a country protects itself not only through government policy, but also through citizen behaviour. Sometimes patriotism is also about how responsibly we consume.

Totally in agreement with @PMOIndia on curtailing travel, fuel use etc. If it’s a global crisis, and beyond our control, self discipline will be the best foot forward. However, I also have a suggestion for @narendramodi ji. 🙏 Sir, collectively we have close to 5000 MLAs and MPs in India. Whenever they move, official vehicles aside, they are accompanied by hordes of followers and supporters. Never seen even an MLA with less than 5-8 vehicle convoy. And sometimes these cavalcades run into hundreds of vehicles. And political leaders, across parties, travel daily to multiple locations. The convoys never shorten nor stop. You can add 2-3 independent vehicle convoys to immediate families of entire number too, just for calculations. Collectively, we are talking about hundreds and thousands of vehicles daily, running for no apparent reason other than accompanying the leader and ‘to be seen’, and clocking millions of miles each day. Sir, if you can direct these leaders, to cut down these illogical miles, it not only would help the present initiative, but also set a case for better future where twenty cars with horns blaring on roads don’t push commoners like us aside because the leader has to travel by supersonic speed to fashionably arrive late at his / her next function. You’ve been a common citizen like us. You didn’t inherit the chair and power. I’m sure you understand the sheer insult and disgust we feel when bulky bouncers and cops hanging out from pilot and other vehicles just shove other vehicles around. So you will be resolving this crassness and unruly behaviour too. Practical problems are surface repressions of deep rooted cultural issues. Like your Swach Bharat initiative. No amount of infrastructure can keep India clean if we don’t stop throwing garbage on roads. I think, in the same manner, car pooling, minimising travel, not running ACs in cars in parking because the VIP cannot ensure 20 seconds of heat while the car cools when AC is switched on, traveling by public transport - all are more of cultural issue than practical ones. And I’m very sure, a step taken by leaders will go a long way in making your initiative successful, sir. Jai Hind - An Indian citizen.

Why the PM said what he said in Hyderabad today about WFH, saving petrol, avoiding destination weddings, not buying gold for a year, etc. India imports massive quantities of both crude oil and gold, and both are paid for in dollars. In a period of geopolitical instability, if crude oil prices rise sharply while gold imports and luxury foreign spending continue unchecked, it puts enormous pressure on India’s foreign exchange reserves, trade deficit, rupee stability, and inflation. Oil is a necessity. Gold and luxury foreign expenditure are lnot. From a policymaking perspective, reducing non-essential dollar outflow during economic uncertainty becomes strategically important. If people don't save fuel, keep buying imported gold at record levels, and spend heavily abroad, the pressure eventually hits the rupee itself. A weaker rupee makes imports more expensive, fuel prices rise, transportation costs go up, and eventually the price of almost every commodity in the economy starts increasing. So his appeal is logical for collective good.
